Tuesday was my 180 day mark. I even got most of the reservations that I wanted. Just found out today that one additional person might be joining us on our trip. All of my reservations are for 9 people. Any advice on how to add the 10th person? Am I going to have to cancel my existing reservation and make new ones? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can try calling the dining line to see if they can help you, but they'll be doing mostly the same thing (looking for a new reservation for the correct party size). I would hop online and search for the ADR for the maximum party size you might have. Make sure you have the new ADR Before you cancel the old one (i.e., don't cancel and then search).

Now you're going from an odd to an even, so in most cases you would be at table for 10 anyway, but there are some restaurants that have seating for odd numbered parties. Many folks will say to just show up with the extra person, but there is always the chance that the restaurant is at capacity and the extra person will be turned away or you'll be treated as a walk-up. So it's better to have an ADR for the right party size.

I also think with 10 people in your party you are considered a grand gathering and can call and make reservations through that line.

Ring them first thing, if you tell them you may have to cancel I'm sure most places would make arrangements for you, unless they are really busy ofc

Disney discontinued the Grand Gatherings in January of 2012. So now parties of up to 12 (I think) can make reservation online.

You cannot call the restaurants directly (except a few in DTD). You can tell the CM on the phone that you might cancel or change party sizes, but there is no way to note this on the reservation. Unless the ADR is for a fully pre-paid location, there is no "harm" in having the large size ADR. At the places with a cc guarantee, you won't be charged the no show fee as long as someone shows up for the ADR (i.e., you won't be charge for the one person if they don't arrive). I don't know what happens with the pre-pay places (like CRT, HDDR, etc.), so those I would be more cautious about.

Looks like the new system may have done one thing right. I was playing around and I could make reservations for groups of 20 and 32 people via the online application. (Note: Spirit of Aloha gave me times for 49 people!)

So, one good thing. A bunch of bad :p.

I also didn't try making any of these ADRs, only checked if it returned times for me or not. When I had it at 49 people, several did say that the party was too large or that I'd have to call the dining line, so that suggests the 20 and 32 would have been fine.

Edit: Only Olivia's allowed the group of 32. I probably should have scrolled down. But it looks like the 10-12-14 party size limitation has been raised by a bit.

I called on the weekend (before the 180 day mark) to see if I could add two people to an existing reservation that I had made at the 180+10 mark. She could not add people but had to do a search for the new total number (going from 5 to 7). She couldn't get anything so we had to add a new reservation for 2 people that is 5 min later than our reservation for 5 people. We'll ask to be seated together or at least close when we check in but my attitude is that if we can't then it serves those 2 people right for not telling me they wanted in for that reservation when I asked before I made my ADRs.
