Hi all! My hubby and I are looking for a inexpensive, nice hotel for a one night stay before we start our Disney reservations. I would like it to be within 30 minutes of Pop Century, as that is where we will have our reservations at. I'm terrible about reading bad reviews! Also, I would like to have a hotel that hasn't had any major problems with bed bugs...they freak me out! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

One of my stays several years back at Pop, the first room they had me in, I was totally bitten up by bed bugs.. my legs were so swollen, the front desk had to call 911 for me at about 2am  The hotel moved me into a different room and also gave me some benedryl to take for the remainder of my stay. They never admitted to bed bugs, just admitted to "bugs" stating it could have been "fleas"...:confused3

Just an FYI about bed bugs, you will get them in a 1* hotel and you will get them in a 5* hotel. Just check every bed in the room carefully before placing any luggage down on the beds or carpets!!!

Oh, forgot to answer your question. There are a few over on Palm Parkway that are decent clean places. There is the old Comfort Inn now called the Clarion, there is also the Extended Stay Deluxe which I have stayed in both and liked both. There are a few others that I personally have not stayed in, so I cannot comment on them. There is also the Country Inn & Suites-Lake Buena Vista over on 535 near Giordano's.. that place was decent too

Oh my goodness! Please don't tell me that!!! I've already been flipping out about finding bed bugs in our hotels!! My husband think's I'm making to big of a deal, but I am so nervous and worried about it! That's why I have yet to make a hotel reservation for the 15th! Thanks for the advice anyways!

P.S.-We stayed in the Pop Century in March 2008 and had NO bed bugs. We stayed in the All Star Sports September 2010 and had NO bedbugs either!

When my kids were small, I use to stay onsite most of the time. I am only 3 hours away and average a trip every 6 weeks.. I have stayed at Pop many times. I have stayed at every Value, every Moderate, and nearly every Deluxe. I have only encountered this once. I have only encountered bed bugs once and it was at Pop. I have been going to Disney on a regular basis since moving to Fl in Nov of 1991. With the amount of trips and the various places that I have stayed and only experiencing them once.. I would safely say... do not worry.. :thumbsup2 Just make it a point to always check your beds before placing anything down on them.. or the carpets. In fact, a friend of mine has taught me a good trick. I use to leave the luggage at the door, with the door open while doing this. She places her luggage in the TUB :thumbsup2 and checks the beds out... I have been doing it the other way for years. I will now be doing the tub method on my next trip. She just told me this last week.. she thought that was what I had been doing all along..:rotfl:

Just be sure to pull the sheets back on the bed including the mattress pad and look for bed bugs. Keep luggage off the floors. We put our dirty clothes into a large garbage bag. Don't put any clothes on the floor.
