Hello everyone! This is our first cruise (and last minute). I need to decide NOW what room will best meet our needs! We are getting cat. 5 for the May 20-27th cruise.
We are traveling with a 3 year old and a 7 month old.....where is best on the ship? Some people have told me to stay away from the very front and the very back. Some say stay right at midship elevators.

Here's what's available...

Several rooms in front of the miship elevator, where there's rooms right across the hall.....7034-7036-7038 and 7532-7534. Then there's 3 rooms right in the lobby (which I can only imagine is loud but also congested).

The other option is to go back some to 7094-7096 (and some directly on the other side). It's in front of the aft elevator.

Where will the least motion be or are they about the same?

If the rooms by midship are better located, how's the congestion and noise?

Is it better to be on the port side of the ship to see the land as you leave?

Thanks so much! I called to make the ressie and was stumped with the question of "what room do you want? After a $6,000 bill, I don't want to be onboard with sick children (or husband...haha)!

Thanks a million everyone!

Mid ship is a better ride if you are worried about feeling the boat move. Each end gets a bit more up and down action. But unless you hit a freak storm, you will be surprised how smooth she rides from anywhere you are.

As for the noise, closer to the elevators (especially mid ship) means more noise in the hallways and from the lobby. They are the busiest of all on board. If you are at least a few doors down from the elevator lobby, that will help.

Unless you are a very early riser or a very early turn in person, then the noise isn't so bad in most places. I find the ships to be quieter than the resorts more often than not. The doors don't BANG when the kids let them fly! I've lost more sleep at the Grand due to noise before than I ever have on these ships!

If you want quiet and don't mind a little motion, then go further aft. Less traffic, less noise and a better chance of getting an elevator car when you want one.

Have a lovely cruise! :sunny:

I'd go with the ones near the aft elevator, since they are in front of the elevator...I think you'll still have a mid-ship kind of ride, but less congestion and less busy elevators.

There is also a back set of stairs (all the way back of the ship) that you can use to run up to deck 9 for beverages and down to deck 5 for kids activities. I'm a deck 7 aft fan. There is also a small public verandah aft on deck 7, which is often a good place for a little quiet time. They do hold vow renewal/weddings back there and sometime has a kids activity, so it's not always available.

I agree with ibouncetoo. I've sailed aft on 3 Dis cruises and prefer it and deck 7 in particular. Next month 6 of us will be in cabins 7116 and 7118. While near the aft elevator I don't expect to much noise. Motion is subjective. Whats rocking to one is pitching to another. The secret veranda is nice and the stairs are handy. While wife and kids get ready, I usually go up to topsiders and bring back hot tea and pastry for my wife and milk or juice for the kids. Just a light bit before hitting the resturants for a full meal. Very handy location. "Free" soda/drink station is 2 decks up. Palo, Parrot Cay, and Animators are all on that end. Then walk off the food by running to the other end of the boat to catch a show-lol.

Part 2.

OK, I'm home now and looking at my map of the ship. If you decide to go the 7090/7590 area, just be aware that the laundry is on the starbord side...I think around 7596 (ish)...might be a little more active over there. HOWEVER, starbord is the side that USUALLY has the view of Castaway Cay. The ship generally backs into the dock there. Don't know about any of the other ports.

I have 7612 on my next cruise and had 7125 Cat 11 on my first.
