HELP! Need Disney Crash course for TOT!

Ok, until this last weekend & a great DING deal, I really didn't think this was going to happen, so I haven't been paying much attention to the TOT threads as I didn't want to be even more disappointed. But, barring anything totally unexpected, DD15 & I will be there!!!

Due to possible school conflict, we won't arrive Orlando til around 8 p.m. Friday, & will likely go to my DSis in lakeland for Fri night, then back to Orlando Sat. Staying Sat/Sun at the Holiday Inn on I-Drive - for free. there's a chance that we'll be in Orlando on Fri night as my DSis & her 2 DD's may decide to quickly sign up.

I'll have a rental car.

I know NOTHING about Disney - been TWICE - 1982 & 1995.

So, What do I need to know???

Doubt we'll go to any parks as DD15 would probably rather shop. If she does decide to go, can you buy 1 day multipark tickets?

when should we plan to arrive at the event?

(Really dumb)- Where is it at???? Where would I need to park???

I know we need to pick up packets on Saturday - Where? If it's in MGM, will we need tickets to get in to get them?

Are we going to be missing all the WISH get togethers? I'd like to meet some of you!

Will they assign starting times to everyone - probably in packet.

I've done ONE 1/2 marathon, DD nothing. But, at basically 18.5 min miles, it's doable - which is why we're coming. My 1/2 was at about 14.5 m/m so I should be fine.

Do we need to carry water, etc, or are there going to be stations?

thanks for any help you can give. I hate to be a PAIN, but I'm also going to FL in early Oct, have DH birthday in Oct and no time to breathe. I just need a crash course as I don't want to goof up!!

How exciting!

Disney has not yet announced a lot of the nitty-gritty details for this event. I believe it starts outside of MGM, and I am guessing that similar to the Minnie you will self-corral based on your expected time of finish. As far as admission passes go - I would check out the ToT website for the link to discounted tickets, I have an annual pass so I don't have to worry about passes. A lot of us are planning to wear our WISH shirts for the race, so be sure to come up and join us! This is going to be so much fun!!

To agree with Pat that Disney hasn't released much info but if it follows the Race for the Taste, it should have the map and final instructions in a couple of weeks. This will answe most of your questions.

The start is in the parking lot of MGM. Park at MGM. You could always park at the Boardwalk and walk over to the start. Probably about 1/2 mile.

If the Sat packet pick up isn't at WWS, than it would be in the parking lot near the start and thus no ticket needed.

There should just be one start time at 9:30 pm.

You can always join us for Mini Golf at Fantasia Gardens across from Swan/Dolphin.

I always carry water as I like to sip along the way. Others won't. I plan a 16 min pace.

I just heard that this race was just mention in Runners World. The race is already 85% full and expect it to fill in a couple of weeks(if not sooner).

Is that in the October issue? Is that out already? lol I spotted Sept still on my local shelf this past weekend.

another is allearsnet.com between the 2 if you haven't been in a while you can find tons of info for WDW. and you know you will literally HEAR the yells and screams when they finally post more race details and course map LOL
