In June I will be heading to the World with my two DSs and nephew. Older DS will be celebrating her b-day while we're there. I need some ideas for a good b-day surprise for her. We have a PS for California Grill on her b-day (our favorite place to eat on property), but I would like to do something else for her while we're there.
DS (younger one) and I discussed the Illuminations cruise and a spa treatment at GF, but we didn't want to take time out of her trip and time away from her son.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I surprised my DD for her 16th Birthday in October with a trip to WDW. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Definitely get the Birthday Badge available at guest relations at all parks. I cannot tell you how many CM's and guests wished her HB. She was just elated. It was so cool to see her blush at 16 from all the kind wishes. The boat captain told her she had to be the first to board the boat to MK at WL because it was her BD after everyone sang to her. She was sung to on buses, in restaurants, etc. Memories she'll have forever and so will I.

2. I ordered a gift package from Beth at Pixie Gifts. I've used her many times and their service is just awesome. I cannot say enough. I had a BD cake, balloons, some t-shirts, night shirts, frame, etc. waiting for her in the room at check in. They are a little pricey but it was worth every penny. I even had Disney Dollars in the gift bag for her to spend whatever way she pleased!

3. Make sure it is noted on all your reservations--hotel, dining, etc. Some restaurants you can order a small cake for around $10 or so. We did PS at LTT and because they knew in advance it was her BD, they had a special table all set up for her with confetti, etc. They immediately addressed her by her first name and she couldn't figure out how they knew! Because there was streamers, etc. on the table, the characters made a point to stop by often to wish her HB, etc. The CM's sang to her and brought her out a complimentary cupcake. It was cool.

4. One of the CM's in one of the gift shops actually called Goofy and had Goofy wish her HB on the phone. They have numbers they can call and there are pre-recorded messages. She actually blushed--it was so cute!

We really enjoyed her Birthday trip. We both have long lasting memories. I hope your daughter really enjoys her special day at WDW!

disneyfanatic60 - Thanks for your reply. I guess I should clarify, the birthday is my older sister's. She'll be 31. Younger sis and I are going on the trip with older sis and her son.

I already knew about the b-day badge and MK. I have also purchased a birthday girl ribbon for her at Target. I hope she doesn't kill us! :earsgirl:

A friend of mine had a scavanger hunt for her husband, and everyone had a blast participating it. She did it through www.giftsofalifetime.com. They got clues, and had to visit several attractions, and at the end, they had a gift ball with small gifts, Disney dollars, and a large gift of my friends choosing.

How old is your nephew? Perhaps you could get tickets for Cirque du Soleil for all of you.

This was DH' birthday suprise.
The birthday badge at MK. He actually enjoyed all the attention
Magic Kingdom Tour: We did the one for 16 and older Keys to the Kingdom, I'm guessing your grandson won't make this age, but there is a tour for all ages.
Fireworks boat ride from the Contemporary: This is a raft ride all around Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon with a stop in front of MK for the fireworks. We really loved the privacy and it was a beautiful starry night with a great captain. It was beautiful sailing around the lake and the fireworks felt like our own private show. We could hear the music and everything, though a few people have indicated they couldn't (must be the wind)
Anyway it was all a suprise to him and he just loved it.
He just read this and said he did really enjoy it.
