Planning our 10 yr anniversary trip and need recommendations for dinner. This will be our first trip without kids so we'd like to try something more adult. Thought of Calif. Grill, Victoria & Alberts, Citricos, Narcrosses, or even private dining on our balcony but can't decide. We're staying at AKL and will have a car so distance is not a problem.

Any suggestions?

Congratulations on your 10th!
While Im sure all of those would be great choices, I havent tried them so I cant speak from experience about them.
However, we are going alone for our 10th too and Im pretty sure we are going to dine at Yachtsman Steakhouse that night...where we also dined on our 9th. ;) We had such an amazing meal there last year, Im having a hard deciding on another place to go.
Good luck deciding, I know its not easy.

on our 9th anniversary (last year) we got a PS for california grill....it was an 8:00 PS cause we wanted tos ee the fireworks from up there

well I told them it was my anniversary when we booked it and I reminded them when I called closer to the trip to confirm it....they had it marked and gave us a window seat in a full room at 8:00.....

dont know if they do that for all, but it was a great touch

we had an amazing night while our child enjoyed the neverland club :smooth:

I would go with California Grill, timed to coincide with the fireworks.

I vote for CG also the setting is beautiful the service is great and the food is yummy :earboy2: I do agree that you must get a ps when the fireworks are going on it will be unforgetable!

If you want to really splurge, you just can't beat Victoria and Albert's. It's really in a class all its own.

As for the others you named, I think that you'd have a wonderful, romantic meal at any of those. Since you are staying at AKL, another place to consider is Jiko. It gets fantastic reviews here on the DIS Boards. :D

If you want romance, I would say Jiko's or private dining on your own balcony. Narcoossee's is very popular with families when they come out of the park and it can be loud. I think the CG is beautiful, but some of the recent posts have mentioned that they no longer dim the lights in the restaurant to coincide with the fireworks. A few other options that you didn't mention, were eating in a park. You could try the Bistro de Paris in Epcot. If you get a window seat upstairs, you will have a view of Illuminations. There is also the Grand I yacht at the GF if you really want to splurge. You can arrange to have dinner on board and view the Wishes fireworks from the lagoon.

Wow, thank for all the replies. We are open to anything, in or out of the park so keep the ideas coming! :D

Go to Jiko

By far the our favorite from our honeymoon.

JIKO

Seriously the single greatest meal I've ever had.

Congratulations! We celebrated our 13th by staying at the Polynesian, and had our celebratory dinner at the Yachtsman! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant! The steak melted in your mouth, the desserts were delectible. The service was top notch. Oh, and the rose at the end of dinner was a very nice touch!

It all depends on the mood you want.
For the ultimate in fine dining and privacy, Victoria & Alberts is wonderful. You get a special personalized menu with your names and the date. If they know ahead that it is your anniversary, they will write Happy Anniversary on the menu. Ladies get a long stem red rose when they leave. Very special, very romantic.

A window seat at California Grille is always spectacular if you are there for the fireworks. The guy in the table behind us proposed just prior to the fireworks beginning and the waiter videotaped the whole thing for him.

In addition to dining on your balcony, you could have a gourmet "picnic" packed for you along with some nice wine and eat on one of the WDW "beaches". (This is great if the weather is nice and you time it to enjoy the water pageant and Wishes fireworks.)

I am also partial for sentimental reasons to the Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney. We went there on our honeymoon and go back whenever we can. The outdoor tables are lovely, the food is very good. Plus, you can go to Pleasure Island afterwards.

I have found that the best way to insure a great time, no matter where you choose, is the plan ahead and not be afraid to ask-very nicely of course-the restaurant to help you make the evening special. Whether you drop off a special centerpiece or decorations for the table (even if it is just a few yards of tulle for them to tie to the chair backs or something to make it more romantic), or give them your cake top to use on an anniversary cake at the meal's end- let them know its a special occasion. Then follow up the day of by calling the restaurant to touch base. Make yourself more than a name on a reservation sheet. You are sure to have a special night no matter where you choose. Happy Anniversary!
