Hi all,
This past Jan. my DH, DD8 and I had a wonderful visit to WDW--we stayed in a bunk bed room at WL and loved it (I have to say, we got a terrific code rate). Anyway, my DH just said to me, "Maybe we should go back to WDW this Jan." which made me just about fall off my chair, since we had talked about not returning for a couple years!

So...now I'm in resort dilemma mode. I think AKL would be fun to try, and we loved WL, but I'm guessing those great code rates aren't going to happen again this year (could be wrong, but...). We might just bite the bullet and spring for a deluxe, but the money seems excessive. Any resort suggestions? Has anyone tried to rent DVC points? Can you tell I'm confused? :confused3

Any advice anyone has would be appreciated greatly!! THANKS!

I'd keep looking around for code rates. I bet they show up. They always do for us.

You mention springing for a Deluxe. WL and AKL are both considered Deluxes, although they are less expensive than other Deluxes.

If it were me, I'd choose WL again. I did WL once in January and we enjoyed it, except for being sick. AKL may be nice, but I have to have an alternative to the buses to at least one park. WL at least has the boats to MK.

DVC resorts are great too! If you rent points (lots of people do it, check out the DVC boards) you can get a great room with extras like a kitchen for a lot less than any of the deluxes. If you rented points and stayed at beach club villas or boardwalk villas you would have a short walk or boat ride to both Epcot and MGM. Jan is a great time of the year to go, less crowded but still warm enough to enjoy the (heated) pools.

Do you have AAA ?

We went last Jan on codes, and this Jan the AAA rates are just slightly higher than the codes (and probably due to room rate increases). Mod was $100 last year and they quoted me $111 for this year. Value was $55 last year and they quoted me $63 this year.

Keara, YOu can book AAA rates thru Disney yourself. Just call the Central # and give them your AAA card #.
