Help-Need Advice for Condo Rental

I think I've found the condo we'd like to stay at. It was through Last Minute Villas. Here are my questions...

The owner prefers paying by check (How do I know they are the owner? Does Last Min. Villas confirm their owners?)

I can pay by cc but there is a management fee. How much should I look at being reasonable? Also, can I pay with my debit visa or is it a better idea to pay with a real visa not attached to my account?

He's not mentioned anything about a contract. Is that normal?

Has anyone ever stayed at Terra Verde? It looks beautiful!

I got a great deal for a Dec./Jan. vacation on short notice but am nervous that we'll get there with no place to stay and no extra money. Thanks everyone for all your help and advice!

There seems to be very little left for Dec/Jan and there are still loads of people making enquiries. As far as I know LMV do not make any checks -unless they perhaps check with the local county. You could ask the owner for the name and details of their Management Company who you could then contact to confirm they are the owners ok.

Personally I would pay by cc if the processing fee is the average 3 or 4% as this will give you that little bit more protection if you are at all worried (using the 'real' Visa)However you should be ok with a check if you have confirmed they are the rightful owners. Owners also rely on the checks clearing ok too.

We stay at Coral Cay Resort which is at the same end of the 192 as Terre Verde and prefer the location but sorry can't really tell you any more

Do you have any other homes shortlisted that you could investigate as a possible alternative that you would be more comfortable with?
