Help!!!! My hair has turned green from the pool

If you cannot bring yourself to wear a swim cap (yup, they are UHG-LEE), you might try Paul Mitchell Three. It is a shampoo for swimmers. I swim a lot and use it. A friend of mine swears by a shampoo that comes in a green bottle...forget the name.

We both wash our hair with a smidge of shampoo when we get out of the pool.

Good Luck, Green-Head! ;) :goodvibes

Baking Soda, Vinegar, and Water always worked for me! Leave it sit there, as mentioned, for 15 minutes (that's about as long as I can take smelling like that in the shower) and then rinse it off and you should be pleasantly surprised! Good luck!

I was also going to say Baking Soda. I had good results with just Baking Soda, no vinegar. Just got my hair wet, put on lots of baking soda, scrubbed and repeated, then rinsed really good. I was surprised how well this worked. I was embarassed to tell my beautician the story about my green hair, but even she said baking soda was the way to go. Unfortunately, I didn't figure this out until AFTER our day trip to Disneyland. It was embarassing. My in-laws friends across the street had too much chlorine in their pool and it took only 30 minutes of swimming to get green hair. Then at DL, the friend was teasing me about how I would fit in with the young crowd. All I could do was make faces at her and blame HER pool. :rotfl2:

I put conditioner in my hair before I swim to keep this from happening. I have blonde but highlighted hair and it works beautifully.

Thanks everyone for your advice on how to turn my hair back to normal. I will give them a try. Another DIS friend of mine asked me if I was starting a new DIS trend :lmao: - I told her maybe I should leave it in :teeth:

DD's hair turns green every summer and we use Pantene's Clarifying shampoo, works like a charm and pretty inexpensive!

I'm wondering if Nioxxin shampoo would work? I know that DW Lauri uses it because with all her meds she gets a grayish haze over her red hair from all the chemicals and this stuff gets it right out where other shampoos couldn't.
