I'm staying home with the dog this week, and omg, the smells that come from behind her, it's insane. My parents are away in Israel this week, and I'm staying in their apartment with the dog. I've been feeding her the food that my parents left behind, but she is so gassy, it's gross. And of course, my dog doesn't like sleeping by herself, so she likes to sleep with me in the bed, which makes it that much worse. I love te dog, I really do. I wish I could be home more often to be with her. But these smells! Is there something like Gas-X that I can give to the dog? Or am I just going to have to walk around with a gas mask?

It usually mean they are on the wrong type of food or treats. My dog has a sensetivity to beef. When ever DH gives her rawhides or bully sticks she usually smell for several days. Had the same problem with my Rottie who had tons of allergy issues.

Monkey68 needs a fullface respirator with a high protection factor! :lmao:

Try giving gassy dog some Pepto-Bismol.... now in order for it to work you must do the Pepto-Bismol dance for the gassy dog!

I do believe thay have OTC gas supplements for dogs.

However if she's not typically gaseous then make sure she hasn't gotten into something she shouldn't have that is causing it.

Good luck and find a clothe's pin in the meantime. :thumbsup2

I don't know if she's normally gassy, I'm usually away at school, and come home on some weekends. But this week, since my parents are away, I'm taking care of the dog. If I get a chance to talk to my parents tomorrow, I'll ask them, but they might have just gotten used to it.

I'm giving my dog the food that my parents left for her, which is the food she normally gets. Oy vey, I need to open my windows wide open and it's cold outside. Good thing I have the thick down comforter to keep me warm.

If you can get her to eat a couple tablespoons of plain yogurt or cottage cheese, in her food, it's supposed to help with that. Ultimately though, it sounds like she needs a different brand of food. Dogs should not hve food that are corn based, so check the label.

Good luck!!

LOL! Is she a Great Dane? They are known for super disgusting, room clearing, smelly green fog gas.

Yes....my dog is part Dane ~gag~

My small 10-pound terrier mix sure stunk up the place, so we tried Breath-Eze chewable mints (the ones with the gas control) and they work! My little dog gets half a tablet a day and they have made her less "odorous." Your larger dog would likely get a full tablet. I have to say that they are worth the price. The dog likes them and they really do work.

There are probably other products that work, but this is the one that works for me. Diet is important, too. I'd limit the food to a dry dog food and keep the dog on it consistently as that is the most likely to settle the digestive tract. Good luck!

Beano. It's the exact same stuff they sell for dogs at Petsmart only a lot cheaper.

We used to have a Lab that could clear a room. It almost completely got rid of the gas.

My dog is not that large. She's about 20 pounds, either a shih tzu or a lhaso apso, we got her off the street, so we don't really know, btu that's the vet's best guess. But maybe she has some great dane in her because the smells that come out of her, even she gets embarrassed sometimes. I might try that plain yogurt thing. I'll have no problem getting her to eat it if I take a little first. She always wants whatever I'm eating, cause if I'm eating it, it must be yummy!

Has the dog been irregular since Mom and Dad are away. We have a dog at work that won't poop if my boss (his owner) isn't the one taking him out. Terrible gas on days that he is out of the bldg.
