Help, my daughter hates rides!

I did a few things on my last trip with my girl that might give you some extra ideas: http://www.disneyite.com/moms.htm Its posted here in detail.

Another idea is that WDW is SOOOOO different than other rides. FInd something that floats her boat, give her a light stick, and ride her fav ride 5 million times before trying to get her on another ride. My girl was shy about rides at 1st. We rode Small World with a light stick 10 times and then tried Dumbo and she was hooked. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks. Our plan is to start in Animal Kingdom and not really do any other rides other than the safari. MK is day 2 and we plan to start with Pooh and It's a Small World. How have people's kids done on Peter Pan? Hmmm, it's a small world 10 times. That'll be fun, I've always wanted to see my husband go insane! :rotfl2:

To the Previous poster, I live in Mankato, South of the Twin Cities, but we're there alot, we might as well live up there!

We did Peter Pan (after 10 time through Small World and a few spins on Dumbo). She needed the light stick and was afraid to look down initally - 2nd time through it grew on her. My shy little boy, on the other hand, cling like a kola but loved to look at all the lights. Out of the 2 my daughter has the bold personality. I would have thought my son would have freaked...Goes to show, you won't know until you are there...And you can always ditch the ride at loading and walk off.

And a little aside... :rotfl2: Does Small World really drive that many people crazy? Cute dolls - good, purple hair - good, sparkles - good, and you can learn French! And it looks even better after its face lift - MORE GLITTER! Wahoo! Okay, can you tell - we rode Small World 10x for me :cheer2: ...I hope this disorder isnt herditary! :cool1: It seems to be rubbing off on my kids. My poor hubby!

When my ds was 2, he hated every ride except It's a Small World and the carasol. We all took turns taking him on IASW. DS must have went on IASW about 3 dozen times. :earseek: We didn't do the carasol too much because he screamed when we had to take him off of it. We tried a few other rides, but he cried through them. This was at DL and we were there 5 days. We were all so sick of IASW by the end of the trip, we vowed we'd never go on it again (you know that didn't happen...lol). It's 3 years later and we all laugh about that trip. My ds (who is now 5), wants to ride Splash Mt. this trip, but my dd7 is now afraid of any ride that has a drop. Since this trip is only me, dd7 and ds5, we are skipping all of those types of rides. So, no Pirates (because of that dinky little drop), no Maelstrom, and no Splash Mt.

We visit Disney every year so this is no big deal. We'll get on all the "good" rides next time.
