Help - My AOL E-mail broke :(

I've used the same AOL e-mail account for about 12 years. I switched to the free AOL e-mail (and kept the same addy) about 2-3 years ago. All along, no problems. Then BANG, yesterday I stopped receiving e-mail. I can e-mail myself, but not get outside e-mails. (Had a friend try)

I have reset every known filter to allow ALL e-mails. I should be getting slammed with Spam! I took off the parental controls, updated AOL software, restarted my computer, cleared cookies, ran scans and everything. I can't use their tech support since it is only offered to paying customers.

I guess you get what you paid for, but does anyone have any helpful ideas? ALL of life is tied to this AOL address. :headache:

That is strange. No ideas on why that is. But find it coincidental that I just had an e-mail from a friend who ditched AOL a few years back but kept her AOL address. Today she says she's back with AOL and left Comcast because of problems with them. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Her AOL address is a bit different from what she had before. I wonder if something happened with her old AOL address.

OK - talk about strange!!! I just got an e-mail notification of your posting! :rotfl: It's the first and only e-mail I've gotten in two days! Maybe you fixed it! :thumbsup2 I just don't know where all the others have gone!

You're not going to like what I'm going to tell you ... :(

I've had this happen to at least 3 friends. There was nothing they could do - and each ended up creating new screen names. I think they could access their mail through aol.com, but none of these people love that format and felt it easier to created a new screen name. At least one of the people I know posts on the Community Board and might see this thread and weigh in, but she's at WDW this week. Not sure how much she's checking the internet.

Thanks for letting me know that - it helps to know that is has happened to others. I only access it through AOL.com - it is my home page, and I don't save any e-mails to my hard drive. Their storage space has been enough - and all around it has worked great for so long. What a pain to change my addy :scared:

I am supposed to be packing for DL :rotfl: At least I can ignore the problem once I am there!

:scared: Uh Oh.. I haven't received any mail today, and I thought it was VERY weird. That would be AWFUL!!!!!!!:scared:

It must only happen to those with trips to see the Mouse upcoming in 2 days or less! :confused3 It's a plot to keep us from packing!

To be honest, I usually get about 100 emails of junk a day but today I've only recieved MAYBE 10 emails! I also have the free AOL email, and just use optimum for internet.

Hasn't happened to me, but I ONLY check my email on aol.com. I don't use the aol software at all (it's not even installed on my computer). No problems. Knock on wood.
