Just back from Disney World, and I can't find my pictures! The last time I remember viewing them was on my netbook while I was still in FL. I put the memory card in the slot, and I viewed them as a slide show. Could I have accidentally deleted them somehow doing this?

I came home and went to a birthday party two days later, and those pictures are on my card but nothing else, so it doesn't appear my card is corrupted.

Is there some kind of retrieval software I can download?

I've asked my kids if they used my camera for any reason or switched memory cards, but they say they didn't.

ZAR 8.4 is awesome recovery software

In digital image recovery mode program operates as freeware with no functional limitations. List of known compatible digital camera models and image formats is available Known camera compatibility list here.

I used this program, and it brought up some old photos on the card, not the ones I was missing. Do you think it would be safe to assume the pictures I'm looking for were not on that card or they would have been retrieved? I must be losing my mind not remembering if there's another memory card somewhere I used.

Is it possible to use a different recovery program and have them retrieve different things? Should I try a second program?

Try Recuva. It is a free recovery software that I have used successfully recently to get photos my MIL accidentally deleted from her SD card.

Good luck. If that doesn't work there is a possibility that the photos are hanging out somewhere on your netbook from when you viewed them as a slideshow on there. They could have auto imported into something on your netbook.

Forgot to mention. It sounds like the photos were deleted (or formatted) from the card before you shot at the party so those shots could prevent recovery of several of the deleted or formatted ones.

What program did you view your slideshow in? Try going back to that program and see if the photos are there.

Another thing to try in the search on the netbook is if you know a file name from the missing set you could search your hard drive for that filename. For example if your first party image that you DO have is named IMG1953.jpg you could search your drive for IMG1930.jpg or whatever.

I had quite a lot of photos on the memory card. I only shot maybe 10 at the party later. So it would seem if my FL pictures were on that same card, some of them would have been retrieved when I ran the recovery program. There were pictures retrieved, but they were old ones from a couple years ago.

I did check my netbook hoping they would have been saved on there, but I can't find anything. Since viewing the slide show was the last time I remember having the memory card, I'm going to stick a memory card in my netbook and see if there's anything that comes up that I could have hit that would have accidentally deleted them from my card.

sounds t me like you have anoither card sitting around somewhere

otherwais Zar should have recovered whatever wasn't possibly written over by the party pics..

I first discovered zar when I accidentally formatted a card, I was still able to recover those files..

even if they were deleted, Zar would have recovered them..

you should be able to do a search for jpeg files on your netbook and it will find all pictures that are oon the hardrive..

There is also the possibility that the card has issues. If you recovered images from a few years ago that suggest you do not routinely reformat your card. That can cause all kinds of wonkiness over time.

When you put your card into your reader, look at how much available memory is there. Compare it to the files you can see and the size of the card. See if there is a block that is unaccounted for... It's not a sure fire way to tell if the files are there, but if you have a huge block that is filled but unaccounted for then it tells you something is there.

make sure you get your party pics off of the cardif you haven't already,

you could always pop the card in your pc, right click the drive, then click properties.. then check for errors...
