I'm hoping someone has an opinion.
When we're in WDW my highschool friend and her husband are meeting us for dinner.
They are very nice, but my kids (one y.o. DD who is non-stop and a 5 y.o. DS ADHD) rarely make it through dinner without some sort of commotion.
So, we want to meet somewhere that will entertain the kids.
Since my friends aren't going to be in the parks we want to make it somewhere like one of the hotels.
We're staying at the Poly.
Any ideas?
Is Kona Kafe nice for dinner or is it worth it to maybe go to another resort? Or maybe try DTD?
We met up with them the last time we were in Orlando and dinner was DISASTROUS! (DS had a major meltdown, and DD who was cutting her first tooth screamed the entire dinner). And then they paid!

How about somewhere that will keep them somewhat entertained. My suggestions below:

'Ohana at the Poly
T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe at DTD
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge

I don't think Kona Cafe would be the best choice for the situation you describe. The tables are very close together, and there's nothing there to entertain the kids, it's just a restaurant.

I think plutolovr's suggestions are excellent.

We've not done Ohanas, but we've read rave reviews and think that is a good suggestion (we hope to try it in September). We did not care for WCC at all.

What about Mickey's backyard bar b que they could dance with the charachters and noise is not an issue

There is also chef mickeys

or 1900 park faire more for your daughter though because of cinderella

Why don't you get an inroom sitter for a couple hours, go meet your friends, buy them dinner this time around and have a nice visit.

your five year old could go to a kid's club...the Poly has a wonderful kids club! Or as someone said above, you can get an in room sitter for both kids. Have a nice dinner with adult conversation and no kid commotion!

that being said, Ohana has a fun dinner atmosphere. There are races and such for kids and music and a generally very entertaining vibe!

good luck!:thumbsup2

O'Hana -- hands down. They do pleanty to keep the kids entertained, hula hooping, coconut races, great view of wishes, etc. Plus, the food is EXCELLENT. It is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere on property. And you're already staying there -- very convenient. Kona has great food as well, but it's kind of tight in there w/ the amount of tables, so there won't be any room for your little ones to wiggle around, plus they don't do anything specifically for the kids.

Your ideas are amazing, and I totally forgot about the Kids' Club. DS was dying to visit it when we saw it, so I think I may suggest it.
I think we could handle the baby and the guests - and DS would love being around other kids!
