My mom would like to pack her medicine in a pill case. Is that allowed? Or does she have to keep them in a labeled bottle? It would really be a major hassle to have to keep them in the bottles, due to her ordering 3 month supplies at a time and the bottles are HUGE!! If she can put them in her pill case, should she have her pharmacist/doctor send her a printout of all her prescriptions to keep with her medicine?

Thanks for you help!!

I don't know what prescriptions are like where you're from but here in the UK whenever we get a prescription, we get a list with all our recent medication on it..name, date issued etc. I put all my medication in a dispenser and take the prescription with me. Thats been fine every time I've flown from UK to US...

So I would say, put them in a pill case and take a printout :)

I have three different sizes of pill cases, a large one for my pre-breakfsat pills, a small one for my dinnertime pills, and a tiny one for my before bed pills. (I actually have two of each in case I travel for more than a week. I keep them in a plastic bag, along with my syringes, pen needles, and alcohol swabs.

I carry a laminated card in my wallet which lists all the medications I take, dosages, and when I take them. I have never been challanged at an airport, and average about five air round trips per year.

I put the plastic bag with the medications, as well as a Frio Cold Pack for my liquid medicines, in the case I carry my computer in when I travel. I take the computer out of the case, as required, and just toss the case, with everything else in it, into a scanning tub.

there is a link to the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) website in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about air travel with medications.
Basically, they need to be identifiable. They can be carried in something other than the original containers, as the other posters wrote.
