Okay, so I arrive on a Friday in October at LAX, and we take Super Shuttle or Disneyland Express to our Anaheim hotel?

Which is better, Super Sh or Dis Exp?

Early Tues morning, we take same shuttle back to LAX, where we rent a car, and drive to Universal. End of day, we drive back to LAX where we stay in a hotel right next to the airport.

Wed Morning, we drive to Warner Bros, and then tour Hollywood and Santa Monica, then return car, and then walk/shuttle/taxi to our LAX based hotel.

Thurs morning, we have 6:45am flight out of LAX.

Is there anything wrong with this plan? Is there anything I should do differently? Should we just check in to our hotel early on Tues, and do that Universal + transportation instead and forget about the car? Do one of those combo tours where they pick you up at your hotel on Wednesday?

Help! I am at a loss knowing whether to rent a car, take shuttles everywhere or what to do with the last couple of days. I am bringing my Disney World fanatic Mother with me, to show her Disneyland but she wants to do a couple days of Hollywood stuff too since she's never been off the East Coast.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Tara

You don't need to take a shuttle back to LAX to pick up your car. Alamo is located in Downtown Disney and they don't charge a fee to pick up at Downtown Disney and return to LAX. Also why don't you just stay at the same hotel the whole time? You would have to get up an extra 1 hour earlier on the last day but you should not encounter much traffic at 4 AM.

Wouldn't that be a lot of driving from Anaheim to Universal, and then from Anaheim to Warner Brothers and back and then to the airport? Or is it not as far as I think it is?

Great advice on Alamo though. I'll have to check that out.

I wonder if you should rent a car in Downtown Disney and drive to Universal which I think is about an hour and a half drive. Spend the night somewhere near Universal or Warner Bros. On your last day take the car back to LAX drop off car and spend the night near LAX?

Yes, I would try to get a car offsite -- not go back to LAX. Cars are often more expensive out of an airport due to airport taxes. there's an Avis and others on Katella right near DL as well. Just note that they are not open extended hours like an airport location would be.

As for taking a shuttle to DL area, I prefer super shuttle for this reason -- you just walk outside and get on a bus! For the DL Express, they only pick up at set times, so if you miss the last bus you might have to wait 30 minutes for the next one. For one way pricing I think Supershuttle is cheaper too.

Thanks so much you guys! Taking your advice for sure. Taking super shuttle there, spending 4 nights, renting car in the morning, driving to Universal, spending 1 night there and then our last night next to the airport. Thanks for helping me work it all out - very appreciated!
