We will NEVER, EVER, EVER go back at Christmas time.
We love Disney, love WDW and don't mind DLP, it is very convenient from where we live in Kent.

We made our 4th journey down to DLP in December and it was a truly awful experience.

I would recommend September time when it is quiet.

eeek! That does not sound good - did you do a trip report?

hmmm i saw halloween but only cos i've been at xmas time twice now (and no other time!)

Quack, I think if you do decide on Christmas its best to be there for Christmas itself when crowds are manageable. Or if you just decide to go for the Christmas season, then November would be less crowded or weekdays in December, the December weekends in the run up to Christmas seem to be absolutely horrendous.

The last time that I was there for New Year, although the park did seem more crowded than normal, there was never any overly long queues for the rides :)

We went in mid November and had all the magic of Christmas without the crowds :goodvibes

I really liked the atmosphere at Halloween myself. I'm having a change of season this year by going at Christmas - well early NOvember which seems to put me in their Xmas season judging by previous years. I'm looking forward to seeing what they get up to at that time of year

I've never been at christmas, one day perhaps. :rolleyes2

We love halloween, but half term is mad busy.

We did both Halloween and Christmas last year and Halloween was by far the better for us. The atmosphere was amazing..particularly on the Halloween Party night which was the best Halloween night I have spent anywhere (including the USA)...excellent entertainment etc, and I really could not fault it. We are booking to go again this year as it really was THAT good!
On the other hand, having experienced such a fantastic trip at Halloween, in comparison the Christmas trip was a let down...much more crowded and really freezing (which may have impacted on our moods a little as we are not winter people), and the Christmas atmosphere was very over-rated. There were a couple of nice shows and that was about it. Far less characters wandering round (probably due to the cold), and we so missed the interactions which we had at Halloween with the characters and CMs in general. The overall atmosphere at Christmas seemed far from festive and it was more endurance than enjoyment.(again because of the cold, queueing in the cold is no fun at all!)
However, this is just our opinion, and I am sure if you have young children they would find it magical, so don't be put off on the account of my opinions.....there are a lot of people who love DLP at Christmas as I am sure you have realised.

Thank you everyone for your honest opinions - we have a lot to think about! If we do go at Christmas I think it will be just a 2-3 days to include Christmas Day (so hopefully we will avoid the crowds a little). But since some of you have also said some very positive things about Halloween - we will also keep this one in contention for a while.

Having read this, I have definitely made a note to visit at Halloween sometime!
Is the Halloween stuff about during the English October half term does anyone know?

Halloween night actually falls within the half term week this year (well it does for our area).

We went October half term 2004 it didn't seem as busy as February 2002 when we went. We caught the Halloween celebrations, apart from the parade the park was full of pumpkinmen (combination of real people in costumes and statues placed around the park) which my two adored. It was fantastic fun but having seen it once I obviously would pick Christmas. They had the Christmas decorations in the shops and had put up the lights ready for a switch on and they were getting Santas grotto ready and it looked lovely. It's going to be a personal choice. Unfortunately my other half being a postman we can't go during the holidays as he's not allowed time off work and the children can't come out of school during early December but that's another story!

I love the Christmas themeing, and if you go early December (even during the weekends), crowds are not bad at all!

My last visit was during Halloween week in 2004 :crowded: :crowded: It was jam packed and the queues were horrendous but the atmosphere was hard to beat.
