Coke hires celebrities for commercials
In an effort to outdo Pepsi, which uses pop stars in their ads, Coke has hired film stars to promote their product. The spots are designed to show celebrities in real life situations. In one, Penelopé Cruz drinks down a coke and then lets out a burp. Another shows husband and wife David Arquette and Courtney Cox at home. Cox asks Arquette if he'd like a coke, but finds there's only one in the fridge. He says, "Yes," so she fills a glass with ice, then pours a tiny amount of coke over it, saving the rest for herself. The slogan for the ad campaign is "Coca-Cola Real," a variation of their long-time slogan "Coca-Cola: The Real Thing."
