Does everyone in your party have to get at least a 1 day ticket or only 1 person? I will have an AP, but DH won't. Also how much did you find yourself spending on food above and beyond the plan? We are not big breakfast people and will probably do breakfast in the room most days.

I believe everyone has to have a ticket, and everyone in the room has to do the DDP.

When appetizer and tip were included we saved a ton of money!! I didn't calculate it, but I know it was a lot.

This time I went through the menus (for our upcoming trip), and figured out what we would get (did not include app's, tips, alcohol, since I will have to pay those OOP anyway)... and for our family of 4 for 5 nights, we may save $100 if we're lucky. I figured at least we won't be losing money, so we're doing it.

I would ask Disney directly. I found this on Allears.net:

Effective Wednesday, February 20, Passholders can book Room Only Plus Dining Package offers. These exclusive offers will allow Annual Passholders to book rooms with the addition of the Disney Dining Plan, Disney Deluxe Dining Plan and Wine add-on without having to purchase additional Magic Your Way tickets. Regular package reservation and cancellation policies apply. For more information and to book your package, contact the Walt Disney Travel Company directly at 407-828-8101. A valid adult Annual Pass is required at check-in.

Still a great deal, even without the appy. We save a great deal of money, and have always spent $0 addiontional money on food.

Disclaimer: I haven't used the dining plan yet, but the Passporter says that it's generally around the same price as you'd pay anyway. We're definitely doing it for convenience sake. Plus, we can prepay all that and don't have to worry about it at the park.

Everyone is different and the "worth" of the Dining Plans are discussed a lot on the boards... to us I figured it out and we are saving about $400 (not inlcuding snacks) dollars on the dulx dining plan... I made a list of what I thought we would order with prices and added it up and looked at the cost... to us its worth it... we are eaters though and we are going to enjoy the food as well as the rest of what the parks have to offer... I believe you need to have a 1 day park ticket to get the dining plans... but double check with WDW to make sure on that...
