So we are going on our first Disney trip. Last min decision. I posted on the Welcome forum also, but figured i would ask a question here.
We are going to stay 4-5 nights. I am wondering do you leave the park you are in and go back to the resort to freshen up befor dinner or go as you are?
We are going to be looking for a nicer sit down dinner experience or show, any recommendations for first timers?
My current plan (after I learned not to wing it) is; Day 1 Magic Kingdom. Day 2 Animal Kingdom. Day 3 Hollywood. Day 4 Epcot. Day 5 (possibly) Disney Springs. What is one good place not to miss place at each for dinner options?
We are going to do a 4 day pass. We are going to do dinner option 2. Staying prob at All Star Movies.
Sorry if my question make no sense, I am VERY new to this.

If you are staying 5 nights, but only doing a 4 day pass...put your break day in the middle. Your feet will thank you.

We go as we are to the restaurants. We liked Be Our Guest or Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom. Hollywood Studios we enjoyed Mama Melrose. We've not had a sit down meal in Animal Kingdom. Epcot we enjoyed Beirgarten or simply eating our way around the world showcase. Disney Springs we really liked Blaze pizza but it's not fancy. at all!

i would start with going to the wdw website and look at all dining and see the menus and pick what food you and your family like to eat have a great trip

TheHannas, since you sound like you would like a more elegant restaurant to go, I would recommend what are known as one of the "signature" restaurants. Every park has these nicer places in the area. You can google them to see what I mean about how they are a cut above most of the theme park eateries.

When you are in Magic Kingdom, I would suggest you try one of these: the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort, Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian Resort, or Citricos at the Grand Floridian Resort. All of these are just a complimentary monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom - just 5-10 minutes. There is even a path to walk to the Cali Grill at the Contemporary if you want to. You don't have to freshen up for these unless you really want to. However, the mild dress code just asks that guys wear a collared or polo shirt and "dress" shorts. In other words, don't wear t-shirt or graphic prints or tanks or jeans or bathing suit style shorts. And ladies, just dress nice in a semi-business casual sort of way as well.

At Epcot, there are many, many beautiful restaurants, even in the theme park area, amidst all the countries, however once again, the very finest establishments are the signatures which are just a stroll away at the Epcot Resorts. You can stroll on over when you're in the World Showcase, by the international gateway by France and walk to either the Boardwalk Resort and eat at The Flying Fish Cafe or the Yacht Club Resort and eat at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse.

At Hollywood Studios, you can actually eat at one of those Epcot restaurants, since they are only a quick boat ride away, or the one signature eatery they have, which is great, is The Hollywood Brown Derby.

At Animal Kingdom, you have the option of eating at the new signature that's in the park now, Tiffins, or head on the bus over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House, which is a very short ride, and eat at their signature - Jiko - The Cooking Place.

If you're ever not sure how to get back to your resort from these resort restaurants, you have a few options - for the Magic Kingdom area resort eateries, you can either take the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom (or walk if eating at the Contemporary), for Epcot resort eateries, you can either walk back over the international gateway the same way you came if it's not too late and the buses are still running, or if they won't let you because it's too late, you can always take a bus from the resort you're at to Disney Springs and from there you can take a bus back to your resort as Disney Springs is open extremely late like till 1AM and there are always resort buses that will take you there so you can then take a bus back to your resort. At Hollywood Studios, if you eat at the Brown Derby, you won't have a problem taking it's resort bus back since they never make a theme park reservation so late that you can't use bus service back to your resort. If eating at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Jiko, if it's too late to get back to Animal Kingdom to take a bus, you can either take a bus to a different, still open theme park, like Magic Kingdom and take a resort bus from there, or once again, take a bus over to Disney Springs to get back to your resort.

There are many fine non-signature eateries as well that you can eat it. And those don't have any dress code at all. But I wanted you to at least know about the best eateries on property since you seemed interested.

Good Luck, and do Google them all for more info!

My family generally breaks the day up by going back to the resort to shower and relax before heading out for dinner, but we generally go for a longer time. On short trips we try to manage our day so that once we get to the park we stay, and have dinner there if we stay late, and dinner after we leave if the park closes early.

To be honest, if it was my first trip and I was only doing 1 day at each park, I would skip doing a bunch of table service meals, or I would take mid-day breaks and have table service lunches. The parks at night are beautiful, not to mention the nighttime shows that you might miss if you were having a sit down meal somewhere. Since you are on the dining plan you might consider using 2 credits each at a signature restaurant. Everyone will have a little different way of doing things, but this is what I would do.
Maximize my park time, I love the parks at night so that's where I would want to be if I only had 4 days. Plus you will have to hustle to see most of each park in one day. I would use my table service credits for lunch at restaurants in the park and counter for evening meals so that I didn't miss to much of the nighttime atmosphere. I would do Disney Springs on my arrival day and if I had a 5th full day I would add a day to my ticket and go back to which ever park I liked the most or didn't feel like I did it justice on the first day.
There are many many wonderful places to eat at WDW, but again, if I was only doing a 4 day trip, I would concentrate on the parks.
To answer your other question, most restaurants are come as you are. The signature places require a bit more but all I usually do is throw a nicer polo or collared shirt in my backpack to change into and nice looking shorts are fine.

SO many replies! much thanks! Its me, wife and son (15). we are going to leave a day ahead of time and drive down, that way the morning of check in day we can hit the first park. I guess since we are staying at All Star Music it would make since to hit Animal Kingdom? Which is closer? Not to get off track about food, does not have to be really upscale but not like a buffet style. Just a nice sit down with good entertainment would be a plus. As far as the booking I am limited because we are a few months out from arrival date of July 2nd! I keep saying its gonna be ok lol

Perfect idea! That would give us a break from the heat!

I think it really depends on how you want to tour the parks. Are you planning on going rope drop to close and eating inside the parks? Will you prefer to take an afternoon break at the resort and then go somewhere (possibly another resort) for dinner? What kind of food do you like? If you could give us a sense of what your day might look like, we could probably give you better suggestions so you aren't traveling all over WDW for your meals.

Well i feel like we will wake up early and be at the parks for opening time. We will prob eat before we leave the resort and snack in the parks to cover lunch. I feel like i may split up "table dining" so we can see the parks at night also. But i did not get the hopper pass. I would imagine we would walk around after we eat dinner also? We are not to particular on food. Its hard for me to ask my questions lol when i do not even know what to expect.
I really do thank all of you for the input

In AK, Tiffins is the nicest restaurant (2 credits) and, if you are looking for something with a "show", you could see if the Rivers of Light dining package is available. If you would just like a good, 1 TS restaurant in AK, I would do Yak & Yeti.

In EP, the only restaurants with "shows" would be Biergarten (which is a buffet) or Marrakesh (belly dancing, but the food isn't great). There are so many great 1 TS restaurants in EP and in the EP resort area. Our favorite is Spice Road Table. What kind of food do you like?

In MK, the TS isn't great. With a DS15, I would probably do Liberty Tree Tavern or Skipper Canteen in MK or go to one of the monorail resorts (if you want to take time away from MK) and eat at O'hana (live Hawaiian music, limbo, coconut races) or Cali Grill (signature restaurant, 2 TS credits) for great food and an unbelievable view of MK. From MK, you could also easily get to Ft. W for Hoop Dee Doo Revue (see below)

In DHS, the best restaurant is Hollywood Brown Derby (2 TS), but Sci-Fi has the most unique atmosphere and might be fun for your DS. It feels like you are in the 50's at an outdoor movie theater - really cool.

If you are looking for a dinner show, your choices are Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Ft. W (which is super fun and highly recommended) or Spirit of Aloha (kind of boring!).

There are good QS in the parks as well, so, sure, if you split up the dining and do some TS lunches and some TS dinners, it would definitely work. Most QS are inside, so they would certainly give you a respite from the heat as well.

I played around on the "my disney app" and tried to look up dinner shows, for some reason it came up with 0 results. my search info i feel was pretty broad to.
It has to be user error to have 0 dinner shows available at different times i tried.

I did manage to find the Rivers of Light one mentioned above post. I went through the booking but I was hesitant because i did not see if it used our "table dinner" option or not. I am not sue how to tell the difference in a restaurant that would be covered under our plan.
