Ok I want my dad to come. He will not pay 1300 for his self for room tickets meal and plane. I need him to stay at the all stars with us. How can I get his room down? :earsgirl: :earsboy: 4 princess: princess: princess: princess: and hopefully a poppy

Depends on your dates, the "season" etc. Check first to see if you can lessen his air fare. As for the tickets, will he need the extra options of water parks, park-hopping, no expiry etc. Make sure you've cut his park tickets down to the bare minimum that he requires.

Tell him that $1300 is not much to spend to have these wonderful memories with his grandchildren. Memories at Disney are "priceless" ... I know, I sound like a Mastercard commercial :rotfl2: But it's so true!

BUMP what Maryliz says...the time you all spend together there will be worth every penny.

Have you checked AAA rates???? Or maybe you could offer to pay for room or part of something as a gift if this works out for you???

Have your kiddos keep begging him with their cute little pouts and maybe that will help!

Sending pixie dust your way that Poppy can join you!

I got my MIL to go by telling her how much I wanted her to experience this with the boys, when everything is truly "magical" to them. And its true. How much time does "Poppy" spend with your girls? My MIL doesn't see my boys much and I think this will be wonderful for all of them! PLus, its her first time at WDW too!

Yes, you have to use the "memories" angle. I did. I got both of my parents to agree to come to wdw this April with us :) It will be their first visit. I got them 5 nights at Pop, airfare from AZ roundtrip of course and 4 day park hoppers. So far their trip is costing them $1146, but thats for 2 of them. All they need now is transportation to Pop from the airport, food and souvies! Good luck convincing your dad! Dont give up!

Not sure but it may be worth it to check to see if disney offers a senior discount, i know there are some AAA discounts...just not sure about senior discounts :teeth:

i have a thought... does he need his "own" room or would he be comfortable sharing w/some of your girls? if he can share, it might behoove you to price him and two girls as one ressie and you/dh/two girls on the other... i'm assuming you/dh/girls would need two rooms at all-stars anyway, no?

also, if he really wants to go and money is a problem, perhaps you and dh can pitch in towards poppy's fare, or ask your sibs (if you have any) to give him his plane tix for father's day...

good luck, and i feel your pain... we soooo want my folks to join us, but mom just doesn't want the "work" that comes along w/going on vacation (packing, unpacking, and taking care of my dad away from home -- he's 87 and has some typical aging medical problems) 'cause it won't be a "vacation" for her (or so she says! LOL!)

hi - i agree with gigi - figure out what your cost will be - with 6 of you - you'll need two rooms - so let him stay w/the girls or with your husband (they'll like the guys time together - and you'll reduce your cost and your father's) and one big thing - the kids will be going back and forth between the rooms until they drop - so it'll be safer to share two adjoining rooms - take it from someone who's been going down w/grandparents since the kids have been small - they always want the grandparent -

I would have a heart to heart with him first and make sure that the reason he is saying he can't go is really because of the cost. Believe it or not, there are some people who have no desire to go to WDW and there is nothing worse than forcing someone to go who really doesn't want to make the trip. You will spend your entire trip worrying about whether he is having a good time or not. If it is the money, maybe he could come down for just part of the trip. A trial run for him. My husband comes for about five days and loves seeing the grandkids enjoying WDW but then he is ready to go home and I am ready to enjoy the rest of the trip without worrying about whether he is going to have to wait in a line more than 10 minutes. I would also price out the trip piecemeal. I always save more money doing it that way than a package.
