I know there was recently a thread on this, but my situation is a little different. I booked our trip the beginning of December for travelling on Jan. 27. I knew as soon as I booked it that I wanted to surprise my son, and I knew just how I was going to do it....our flight is at 2:00pm, and I was going to just go to his school at around 11:00am that morning and have him taken out of class. Pretty neat way to surprise him, huh? Anyway, I have been racking(sp) my brains trying to figure out a neat and different way to actually tell him WHY I pulled him out of school. I can't come up with anything besides just blurting it out, and I really don't want to do it that way.

Can anyone help?

simple is better... does he understand the meaning of "appointment?" if so, tell him you have an appointment and need him to leave school early... since you're coming from jersey, i am supposing you're flying... maybe you could tell him you have a couple of app'ts, the first one at the airport w/the pilot (or flight attendant)... next you have an app't w/the taxi driver (or whomever)... then you've got an app't at a hotel... all the while leading up to an app't w/MICKEY MOUSE (or whomever his fave is) trying to perhaps get a character meal w/that character for your arrival night?

we are seriously considering springing the trip on our kids if/when we go in august... just doing it and not telling them before (but then where's the "if you don't behave you're not going to wdw" threat?! LOL!)

on our previous trip we told them we were leaving on tuesday so they would be able to get to sleep sunday night and then woke them at 4am on monday and said "LET'S GO A DAY EARLY!" and they were shocked and excited and thrilled! :)

Would he recognize plane tickets? Have him paged to the office. Leave a stuffed Mickey on the counter with plane tix in his lap. Hide someplace that you can see him.

I'm going this spring and going to surprise my kids. I'm telling them we are going to the mountains. By the time we get to Florida and they start to recognize where we are, I'm going to tell them, "I said we are going to the mountains...Splash Mountain, Space Mountain..."
