I am doing a spur of the moment suprise trip to DL in a week for just myself and my DS4, we're leaving daddy and little brother at home. My DS4 has no clue, he thinks we won't be going until his birthday the end of October! We leave for the airport right after his basketball game on the 27th. He doesn't read yet, does anyone have any fun ways to tell him we are going? I'd love any and all suggestions! Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I did this with my kids a few trips ago. I had the grandparents take them to the airport to see their aunt Tiffy (she works at the airport) and told them Mommy had some errands. Then I showed up with their bags and said, we're going to Disneyland! They were surprised all right.

The only bad thing (and this may not happen to you because we have a very structured life) is my kids were SO very surprised they had a hard time understanding we were REALLY really going to Disneyland. I had to tell them about ten times on the plane ride before they got it. :) It was still fun.

Hope you have a fabulous trip. princess:

This might seem crazy but I have gotten Disney pj pals from the Disney Store and put them under their pillows. They loved receiving a note from Mickey Mouse saying he can't wait to see them and really loved the jammies he left. If anyone is going this month you may want to ask for a Fairygodmailer to send him a postcard from DL.

One idea is you could get a little toy airplane and attach it to a 'ring chain' (do red, black, and yellow rings) and have the number of rings equal the number of sleeps until you leave for Disneyland. For the final ring you could draw Mickey heads on it or write DISNEYLAND TRIP. I think tearing a ring off each day is a lot of fun for kids that age.

All those ideas are very cute. His Grandma is coming the week after we get back. We're thinking about telling him we're picking up grandma and when we get to the airport hand him his bag and pirate mickey ears and say "we're too early to pick up grandma. She won't be here for 10 more days. Would you like to go to Disneyland with mommy instead?" What do you all think? Thanks for the airport idea!! Wouldn't have thought about it otherwise!

Yep, he started sports last spring with the YMCA when he was barely 3. He has done soccer, t-ball, gymnastics, swimming and now basketball. The halves are only about 6 min long, but it teaches team work, sharing, listening and gets him ready for an active life style later. He LOVES it. He's always asking if it's basketball today! The other sports, other then swim lessons, he didn't like as much, but that may be because he's pretty good at basketball for a 4 year old. Soccer, his first sport, he was more interested in picking the honeysuckle then chasing the ball :rotfl: We'll try it again this spring to see if he has grown to like it. It's so cute to see these little guys out there playing, they even wear little jerseys! Oh and no one keeps score, it's all for fun!
