Help me solve a mystery?

Hi there-

I apologize if this was posted in the wrong place, but there's been something I haven't been able to solve.

Last year in May, when I was on the Magical Express, at every resort we stopped at, I saw what looked a CM holding balloons and waiting for select families. It seemed like this was done for whatever they were celebrating.

I want to arrange this for my family trip next month, but no one seems to know what I'm talking about. I've asked my AAA agent, her manager, a CM with Disney Reservations, the front desk at ASM and the "Disney Florist".

Have you heard about this? Was it possibly a one time thing for an event? Or am I just going crazy?

A few years ago we stayed on night at ASmu and there was a CM standing in the lobby with balloons which they gave to the kids, there were people standing in a line dancing and clapping to some song, and they gave me a rose. It was my first trip and I thought that was just how they welcomed everyone to the resorts! (they did it to all the people coming in while we were checking in) I was a little bummed when we switched resorts and there was no dancing welcoming party.

Not sure if this is the same, but we did the Adventures by Disney trip to China that included a stay at Hong Kong Disney resort. When our tour group arrived, we were greeted by a line of CMs wearing Mickey gloves.

In December 2011, there was a CM waiting for us with balloons and a sign with our name on it when we arrived at the resort. We had been selected to be Family of the Day. We got a few pictures, a certificate, a few little souvenirs. We were escorted to our room. It was fun!

But it was a totally random thing. I don't think you can request it.

Last year we were at ASMo and a CM met us as we got off ME and asked if we were so and so and gave us a bunch of balloon...it was my daughter and my birtrhday and we had noted that on the reservation. Now we ususally go that same time and that was the first time we got that special treatment.
