Help Me See Fireworks!

Just got a 7:10 ADR at Rose and Crown. I've never eaten here around fireworks time because, in all honesty, I assumed I'd never get a good table.

So this year, I'm taking my mom, and because she is a smoker, I may never be able to talk her into going back. (She is none too pleased with the new policies). She looooooooooooooves Epcot and Illuminations, so I'm ending our trip there in the hopes that it makes her forget all about the smoking thing and come back with us in the future.

Okay, so it's just my mom and me. WDW-DINE says very clearly when you make the ADR that R&C DOES NOT ACCEPT requests for outside dining at the podium (or anywhere). But I've heard people say they've done this.

Tell me how to get a seat outside... What should I say or do (I'll be as charming as I can!)?

Thanks!

You'll be lucky to get a seat at all if my experience is anything to go by there, regardless of whether it's indoors or outdoors! My party of 4 waited an hour and half past our ADR time for any table to become available (we didn't specify outdoors). In the end we gave up and went, straving, to good ole reliable Earl of Sandwich.

But hopefully that was just a one-off!!

It really just comes down to luck. Honestly I wouldn't plan to have am outside table and just be suprised if you get one. I wouldn't mention it to Mom so she won't be disappointed if it doesnt work out.

Too late for that! :-( Although I did tell her that we may not get a great table so we'd just eat quickly and then find a spot to watch the fireworks. which will be impossible with the time of night, but I don't know what else to do.

Now I'm scared we won't get seated at all! Mom won't tolerate that! Anyone else have that happen or was that just a freak thing?

Not sure if this happens normally, but when we were there over President's Week, we had the latest possible ADR at 8pm. We had an indoor table, but as 9pm approached, most people had left, including most of the outdoor tables. Our server offered us a transfer to the table out there.

So, if you do go and don't have the best table, it might be worth it to stick it out and as Illuminations gets closer ask the server about going out to the deck.

In the past they've also had a seating/standing area only for people eating inside to go out and watch, not sure if that's still the case.

Guests can ask, once, when checking in at the podium, for outdoor seating. However, Guests must accept the table ultimately offered, or they will be welcome to dine elsewhere (VERY politely, but still...)

Yes, inviting 'indoor' diners onto a special area of the patio is typical procedure.

But, 7:10 might be TOO early - you'll likely be done eating and long gone by 9 PM.

Is this something new or only at dinner time near the fireworks?

I asked that I did not sit outside, that I prefer to be inside, it was actually cooler than I would have liked for outside seating, I was not turned away, we waited and were seated inside..

If that is indeed the case, I will be crossing this restaurant off my list.......If I prefer to sit inside for whatever reason, I should be allowed as the paying customer that priviledge.. Unless, this only has to do with times around the fireworks...then I might be more understanding.
