I got dog blood on my white capris (dogs paw was bleeding and it got all over my pants). I immediately rinsed them in cold water. I've tried Shout, Clorox 2, real bleach, awesome, peroxide, laundry soap and white brite. It's faded, but not gone. Any other tricks I should try?

Peroxide! Let it bubble and sit for a while, give second tx if needed, I have also found Era works good on blood.

When I was back in school, our band uniforms used to be all white. If one of us girls had an accident our go to trick was powdered dishwasher soap and a nail brush. It took a bit of effort but it worked every time.

A good long soak in Oxy Clean has saved a lot of my stained things!

Carbona! A friend of mine said her son had a nosebleed all over his sheets. She soaked them in Carbona for a long time and all the blood came out. I've used Carbona on dirt stains that the wash didn't get it and it worked. Carbona is hard to find. I think I bought it at a JoAnne Fabrics.

Good luck!

Spot Shot. That stuff is amazing. It's actually carpet cleaner but I've used it on resistant stains on clothing.

Shampoo works great on blood. Scrub a little shampoo on them and then was them as usual.

I agree with Carbona! There is a different formula for all kinds of different stains and it can be hard to find, but it works wonders. I've used the one for ink stains and got a ton of pen ink out of a really nice work outfit without runining or fading the color. I've also used ones for red wine stains and grass stains with success. Walmart and Kroger sometimes carry it.

I second Oxy Clean - I've found it works great on all stains caused by food and the various "bodily fluids" :rotfl2:

Soak the clothing in a strong concentration of Oxy Clean and detergent, for several hours, then wash as normal.

My magic formula has gotten all kinds of stains out. Grab a bucket and throw in one cup of dishwasher detergent, one cup of regular laundry detergent, and one cup of bleach. Add hot water and put your item in to soak overnight. Throw item in the washer and add the water from the bucket in when you fill it. Wash as usual. It has gotten out all kinds of stains, but it can fade colors, so use it with colors only as a last resort.

I use Magic Wand for blood stains (works great on other stains, too). It's a stain remover stick. Ds will have nosebleeds while he's sleeping and tell me days later. This always gets it out. Buy mine at JoAnnes.

Last semester I took a textiles class and we did 3 weeks of lab study on stain removal. These were the results.

Detergent info from my Textiles class.

Stain removal:

Tannin stains (fruit, vegetables, coffee, tea)
Removal – pour boiling water from a distance and use a general purpose detergent.

Protein stains (dirt, blood, egg, meat)
Removal – soak in cold water for 20-30 minutes and use an enzyme detergent (Biz)

Grease/Oil
Removal – rub general purpose liquid detergent on both the front and back, let the stain absorb the detergent for 10 minutes, scrub briefly between fingers and repeat until gone.

Permanent Dyes (grass, ink, dye)
Removal – start immediately, general purpose liquid detergent, no waiting, scrub, repeat, chlorine bleach unless it will damage the color of the fabric.

Ball point ink
Removal – soak in alcohol for 10 minutes scrub, general purpose liquid detergent coat fabric scrub.

Rust
Removal – lemon juice and salt, also RIT color removal

Combination stain
Work on the stain first that is most difficult to get out

Hope this helps!

Hairspray gets blood out. Not aerosol, but the pump kind.

Run under cold water, spritz with hairspray, let sit 5 minutes, rinse again and repeat until the stain is gone.

See my post on the family board about DD's bloody noses.....we have white carpet.....

I second many suggestions but I can really give the thumbs up for Carbona...go to www.carbona.com and put in your location for the product you want and it will direct you. But my newest find is a 1/2 cup of dishwashing powder dissolved in hot water added to my laundry. My whites are looking sparkly.
I have found also it is the fabric that makes a difference. Some fabrics just hold the stain longer....I've had to put things out on the line for a day or two for the sun to work it's magic.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I know you said you tried peroxide but I would keep trying. It has worked wonders on my blood stained things. :) I have stitches right now, my neck started pouring blood (I think it was just behind the bandaid, like a puddle and then the seal broke and gush) and I grabbed the closest towel I could, white since our bathroom colors are tan and white LOL, soaked it in peroxide and it worked. :)

I work in a dry cleaners and we use ammonia to get blood out. Also I hope you haven't thrown it in the dryer that can set the stain in.

try vinegar ,,, I had a cut on my finger once and a friend suggested I try that , and it
worked right away. The vinegar stinks but it took it right out. I have used it several
times over the years. Cheap and easy.
