Help me remember an Epcot attraction from the mid '80s

Ok, so this might be Living with the Land but I'm not sure.

I remember riding on a slow boat or maybe a tram/train of some sort on an indoor attraction.
It had lots and lot of vegetation. I can still remember the smell, very loamy.
There was possibly steam/fog/mist. It was humid.

There was possibly a dinosaur but I could be getting that from somewhere else.

Does this still exist? Could it be Living with the Land?

Yes, Living with The Land!

There are two rides that you may be blending.

Living with the Land is a boat ride focusing on agriculture.

Ellen's Energy Adventure (what used to be Universe of Energy) is the one with the foggy dinosaurs.

I remember Kitchen Cabaret but that was before Food Rocks. There was another boat ride but I can't remember the name

Yes but the opening dinosaur scene in Energy has lots of vegetation and a funny smell.

In a related topic...am I right that Living with the Land used to be "Listen to the Land"? I thought I remember a little song where they sang, "Listen to the Land..." toward the end of the ride or something. I liked that little song.

OMG, my MOST vivid early Disney memory is of that smell!! I was slightly nervous about the dinosaurs, but I was really weird about smells as a child and could not stand how it smelled there. I wanted off the ride, and that smell still haunts me. My parents thought I was freaking out b/c of the dinosaurs, but no, it was that smell. Definitely the Energy ride (pre-Ellen), not Living with the Land. Some of the elements from the original ride are still used, so you'll recognize it if you go. I love that someone else remembers that smell, b/c my family always thinks I'm nuts. :)

This is hilarious. I love the smell. But you are not crazy because I remember it. But I want to go on it.

Ok, thanks to your help, I think I am either blending two rides, Universe of Energy and Living with the Land or I am just thinking Universe of Energy.

Are there still dinosaurs in the Ellen thing?

Which one has the smell now? Living or Ellen?

But the Ellen ride is 45 minutes. And once you're in, you're stuck, right?
You can't catch a whiff and then get out of there...

I'm torn. We only have 1 day in Epcot and while I'm an Ellen and Nye fan, there is a whole world to visit.

My vote is for Universe of Energy (the Ellen thing), and I have always loved that part of the ride with the lush vegetation, and the dinosaurs.

Hopefully you'll be awake enough for the dinosaur portion! I nearly missed it last time, woke up right as we exited.

That smell sure is unique though.

Ride it, just for the nostalgia! (Ellen's energy one, I mean.) I realize it seems long, but chances are pretty good one of the following will occur when you're there: 1) it rains 2) it's blazing hot 3) you're sick of walking around or have kids who are. We love Epcot for the Showcase, but that's not open in the morning anyway. It's not an "every trip" sort of attraction, by any means, but if you're going after a long absence - go just for the memory! I'm glad I did!
edited to add a P.S. I wasn't nearly so upset by the smell as a grown-up. :)
