Help me pronounce Le Cellier...

Hi,

Being a french-canadian from Montreal for the past 33 years, I can confirm you that the way to pronounce Le Cellier is.....

Luh cell yay :)

you do have to pronounce the L and there is the i that gives the sound y with the er being ay. So you get Luh Cell-yay. :)

Hey Richard!

I'm from Montreal too!!

Luh cell yay!! MIAM!

Ça va??

My best friend is French Canadian. Her mother grew up in Canada, They definitely pronounce things diffrently. Her mother taught HS French, and had to be sure she pronounced things the european way instead of the Canadian way.

Richard has it right
Luh (or the start of look)
Sell
yay.

French is much like English, it has several dialects, depending on the area it is spoken. Canadian Francophone is based on an Anglophone version of French. Acadie French, spoken in East Coast Canada and Northern USA, is based on a further adapted Francophone. Cajun french is Acadie, influenced by Southern USA English.
We stayed in Macon, Georgia on our first trip to WDW. I grabbed a few beers at a nearby convenience store. I have no idea what language the guy in there was speaking......"yuhn gir no wak heya nuh mo." and "tweh un tweh un" ($21.21) :confused3

I've decided. I'm not saying it 'cause I still don't know how. While we're at Disney, and if for some reason it needs to be said aloud, I'll just trick DH into saying it for me. :rotfl:

Très bien merci ! I'm actually from Laval (suburb of Montreal) but I now live in St-Eustache (another suburb).

There are different dialects for sure but in this case cellier should still be pronouced as Cell-yay.

Like I always say, it doesn't really matter which way you say it as long as people know what you are referring too... :)

I live in Laval!

We have reservations for Le Cellier on Sept. 19 !!! J'ai hâte!!

My fiancé is like "Why are we going to eat at a Canadian restaurant while in Disney? We LIVE in Canada!! Hahah, we can eat at a Canadian restaurant every day if we want!"

Ahhhh, leave it to me, honey, I decide!!!
