Help me plan my vacation - next week!*UPDATED*

OK...I am leaving for WDW in 11 days. DH can now take some more time off, so we are hoping to get a few days extra of Florida time in before WDW.

Any suggestions? I've never been to Universal Studios in Florida, so I thought perhaps two days at Portofino Bay Hotel there and do the Universal thing. Or maybe a beach vacation for 2 days somewhere in FL? (DH, me and our five year old dd)

Any suggestions? If the beach vacation is your choice, lol, where do we stay? Please help! I'm starting to stress. Last minute trips are great, but this is really throwing me off here (been planning the WDW since November.) I still need to rearrange my air travel.

UPDATE: We were able to book a room at Vero Beach for two days prior to our BCV stay. I love Disney Vacation Club...I'm very surprised they had a room on such short notice! Thanks so much for your suggestions!

We live on the east coast and in a beach town, so while I LOVE the beach, it's not that big of a deal to me. If you don't get to visit the beach too often then go for it. I'm sure your 5 y.o. will have a blast.

Having said that, we loved Universal when we went in 2000 and will be visiting there again this August staying at PBH. You can get some great Entertainment card rates there ($155) and I've heard of people getting great rates through Hotwire as well. This hotel looks awesome and I can't wait to bring our kids there. The parks are great too and IOA especially for your 5 y.o. Good luck with your decision and HAVE FUN!

I vote for the beach vacation! If it's just a couple of days I think your dd might enjoy building sandcastles and such. Especially if you don't get to a beach often.
We went to Universal Studios and IOA last Dec. DS was not quite 7 and there were many rides he wasn't tall enough to ride. He didn't ride anything at IOA. He doesn't care for "extreme" rides, which is what I consider the rides at IOA. But your dd might like those kinds of rides. I'd check on the height limits though.
