My fiance and I are getting married April 2010 and want to have an escape wedding at Sunset Point at the Wilderness Lodge. Any advice on planning? Also can anyone reccomend an officiant. We are both from the Chicagoland area and are looking for someone who will be willing to work with us long-distance. Thanks so much for all your help!!!

As far as Officiants are concerned I would look at the Disney preferred list. (They are used to working with "destination brides" also when you are getting married at Sunset Point, the officiants from the Disney list wont count as a guest at your wedding!

I would recommend emailing the people from the Disney list and asking for a sample ceremony. You will want to know if you want a religious or non-religious ceremony. You will probably find a ceremony that you love. It's probably different for everyone.

Personally I chose Rev. Jack Day. He is pretty popular here on these boards. A lot of people (including my wedding planner) highly recommended him. Additionally, although he is a minister, he is performing a civil (non-religious ) ceremony. HTH

Do you mean Sunset Point at the Poly or Sunrise Terrace at Wilderness Lodge?

Thanks so much! We are so excited, we wanted to honeymoon there anyways so we figure it's the perfect setting for our speacial day. I'm just waiting for a return call from the consultant, after I hear back I'm going to start contacting officiants. We are planning next April 2010. I'm hoping they have the 30th available, but if not we are flexible :)

I'm wondering if anyone else has arranged a dinner or brunch after their ceremonies? We are hoping for a 5pm ceremony and I'm planning on making reservations for our families at Artist Point for our wedding dinner. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi! We were married at Sunrise Terrace almost 4 years ago. It is a gorgeous location! It doesn't get used much and I don't know why; maybe because the guest list is pretty small there or it's kind of out of the way. I don't know, but when DH and I saw it, we knew that was the location for our wedding! We also spent the first few nights of our honeymoon at WL. It was very romantic and I imagine it's even prettier now since they've redecorated the rooms since then.

We had Rev. Jack Day and he was fantastic! We were both very pleased with him and how he did the ceremony. He even gave our toast at the cake cutting, gave us marriage advice, and he stuck around for additional pictures.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Artist Point and a good-bye brunch the morning after the wedding at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Everyone loved the brunch, even my aunt who doesn't like anything Disney - LOL! Artist Point is a wonderful restaurant - excellent food (I recommend the mushroom soup) and very pretty atmosphere. There is a dress code, but it's not strict, just no swimsuits, casual shorts, or tank tops.

If you'd like some pictures from our wedding please PM me and I'd be happy to answer any other Sunrise Terrace questions.

i spoke with our weding cordinator, Stacy, yesterday!!! we are on her calender for April 30th ... now comes the hard part, waiting until August to see if we get our day and time :) if not i'm sure it will all work out for the best, we're flexible.

now i'm wondering about booking rooms, we are thinking of using AAA, but haven't quite decided yet. i'm thinking we should wait until August to book, so we have some time. we are thinking we would love to stay at wilderness lodge but it might be a little too pricey, so were also considering port orleans riverside. i've never stayed at either but they both look great.

i'm also trying to decide on add-ons, like photography packages and flowers. we aren't going to get too crazy though and are only going to add a few things like a bouquet for my sister and boutonniere for his brother. this is soooo much fun!!! it is amazing to be able to say i'm getting married at disney!!! wooo wooo!!!

sorry this post is so random, i'm just super excited!!!!
