Help me pick a street name

How about a less obvious Disney reference? In Mary Poppins, what was the name of the street that the Banks family lived on? Cherry Tree Lane?

If you want to go with the farmer's field idea, how about Fieldstone Drive?

When that happened here many just used their last name as the road name.

Stonegate Pass
Lone Oak Drive
White Pines Lane
Old Farm Road
Heritage Parkway
Sunburst Trail

I like the idea of naming the street after the farm owner. I live near Columbia, MD and there are quite a few neighborhoods and streets named after the farmers who owned the land.

If I could name my road it would definitely be "Easy Street". :thumbsup2

I call our little farm "End of the Trail" because I am NEVER moving again!

While a nice idea can one use a copywriten name in a street name without getting the copyright holder's permission? Cindarella as a name is public domain by now as long as Disney trademark images or font isn't used but I don't know about the other ones.

I don't know about all of that however in St. Louis a casino is being put in and they are paying the residents $500 per house for them to go along with the name change.

So it was being debated, can you go to a business and ask for their name and even get paid on top of that & the ethics and law of it all?

It was being kicked around on our local discussion panel show. You could throw it to the highest bidder, you know? Food for thought.

If it were me, I would do some research into the property area and put a historical spin on it. Good Luck!:thumbsup2

What ever you do, keep it as simple as possible as you will have to tell that new address to EVERYONE. :lmao:

My grandpa's address went from a Rural Route number to a named street when they added 911. The town was trying to come up with all these fancy names. He suggested you take names from the surroundings so his road ended up being Wild Rose Lane as there were wild roses that grew along the road. Others in the area were named Cardinal Way, Spruce Street, etc.

I had a friend that lived on Northridge Way Lane West--way too much of a name.

My sister lives on School St. Very easy.

Do you know the name of the farmer? since you are on what was his land it would be nice to name the road after him/his family.

When I started reading this my mind automatically went to the history of the land. And then when the OP came back and said it was a farmers field I thought his name would be a fitting homage.

Pass on the Disney names and cutesy names--50 years from now when someone wants to learn who the street was named after they're going to be sorely dissapointed to learn that *Captain Jacks Way* was named after a fictional character from a movie.

Keep history alive.

Oldfield Road
Meadow Drive
Fallow Field Lane

Do you know what was grown there???
Cornsilk Lane
Wheatfield Road
Pumpkin Patch Place

:thumbsup2 Barnstormer's Blvd., Wise Acre Road, Farmtown Road, The Land Circle. Three Little Pigs Way...oooo, somebody stop me!!

we built in Michigan in early 2001, our developer named our street after the high school mascot. Beaver Ridge Rd. We're no longer there.

Might be a bit of fun to be had. We had friends who moved to Kentucky, they've since sold the home but they lived on Tingle Ave/Rd (can't remember which) in Pleasureville.

We have a nightmare lane around here but I wouldn't recommend it :) How about Falls River, Bartons Drive, Raven Ridge, Pumpkin Lane, Barn Gate Way, Farmville road. Just a few ideas.

I do like the disney suggestions. I don't know if the neighbors or the road commission will agree though. The road commission gets the final say.

Well, I can't help you with the Disney names - but there IS a Sesame Street in Wakefield Massachusetts if they need to be convinced of the legitimacy. Besides, it was a seed LONG before it was a street or tv show ;)

I grew up in a develepment (the old name for subdivisions) where the streets were names for members of the developers family.

KatieA - I know there are only five houses, but is there one name more common than others among the street's residents?

Although, personally, I'd vote for Katie Lane ;)
