The county I live in is asking us for suggestions on naming the road we live on. The builder put in a right of way and built 5 house off of that. Our address is currently the main road but our driveway only goes out to the right of way and not down to the main road. The are also renaming any roads that have similar names like Austin Rd and Austin St. We had a problem a few years ago where 911 went to the wrong address and the people ended up dying.
So back to my question. Any suggestion for road names?

Hmm... where are you at?

Near any lakes? Any woods? Farms? Streams? Rivers? Valleys? Mountains?

You're going to think I'm kidding, but...
Mickey Mouse Way
Disney Drive
Sesame Street
Cinderella Court

for starters...

We are in Michigan. Rural area, where our houses were built it used to be a farmers field.

I do like the disney suggestions. I don't know if the neighbors or the road commission will agree though. The road commission gets the final say.

The Disney suggestions are actually a very good idea because they are unusual and will stick out amongst other street names. Guaranteed that no 911 will ever hit the wrong street again.

King Arthur's Court

Easy Street

Sunset Boulevard

Electric Avenue

Lonely Street

Happy Trail

Milky Way

Zippadeedoodah Way

But I'm weird that way. hehehe..

I knew someone who lived on Disney Way....it is distinctive.

While a nice idea can one use a copywriten name in a street name without getting the copyright holder's permission? Cindarella as a name is public domain by now as long as Disney trademark images or font isn't used but I don't know about the other ones.

From my husband:

Wolverine Way
Schembechler Boulevard
Spartan Lane
Yzerman Drive
Wings Way
Kaline Court
Sparky Street
Daly Drive
Gordie Howe Circle
Hocky Town Lane
Hat Trick Hills

or........

Stitch Street
Cinderella Circle
Dumbo Drive
Belle Boulevard
Goofy Avenue
Mad Hatter Place
Tinkerbell Track
TeaCup Trail
Pluto Parkway

Do you know the name of the farmer? since you are on what was his land it would be nice to name the road after him/his family.

You could use the rural connection and create some names. I don't think that the commission will go for Disney type names. You also have to remember about the "theme".

Countryside Way
Meadowlands Streeet (or Drive)

What type of farm? Apple farms can give you some great names..

Winesap Way
Delicious Drive
Queen Anne's Place
Macintosh Way

In our area a lot of the streets are named after states or specific counties.

In my area there are Midatlantic and New England states.. Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire..

There are also streets named after universities: Harvard, Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, Maybe a local university or area might be nice.

Some other areas also do the specific counties in NJ: Atlantic, Camden Burlington, Pasaic, Bergen, Salem, Mercer, (all the counties of NJ represented)

Is there a famous or well known local person? That might be nice as well.

This may be impractical, but one of the streets in the subdivision where my parents just bought a house in Windermere was named Confetti. I thought it sounded like the most fun street name EVER.
