First disney trip w/ 3 kids ages 11,5,1. Staying 9 nights and plan to spend one full day enjoying resort and most afternoons at resort.

If I had nine days I would consider doing a split stay. Spend some nights at CBR because it has the better pool than FQ and then splurg a few nights at AKL - it is awesome! Disney makes it so easy for you to do a split stay. Bellhop will transfer your bags to your new resort at no cost while you go on with your day at the parks. Done it many times.

I voted AKL pool view, but CBR is a close second if it is a preferred room. As PP said, a split stay might be a good option as well, if you don't mind packing everything up to move.

AKL get my vote because it is a deluxe resort - rooms are a bit larger, you have a balcony and multiple places to dine. The animals are fun to watch and there are lots of great activities for the kids.

Enjoy!

Anywhere you can be near a pool with kids is good. It's not on your list but POR pool view practically get you a quite pool right outside your door.

That's always hard to look at that $800 and think, will I have LESS fun at Port Orleans?! They all have two sinks and a coffee maker. Not sure if room size is that big of deal. The animals are cool, but it's the AKL atmosphere I like. Walking down that carpeted hallway and going into my room is just - wow I'm really staying here! Our resort days are "resort hopping" so that gets us excited for staying at the ones we visit. I would not pay more for a view at AKL since you can go right outside your room and find many animal viewing balconies.

We have stayed at all 3 and if the $800 doesn't matter I'd go with AKL. CBR is really fun but very spread out. You can be very far from the food court and busses can be crowded. POFQ is so beautiful and I think they have the trundle beds right? Very good food court and the warm beignets in the morning are awesome. AKL was so much fun - the atmosphere and activities were great. The pool and nighttime movies were very relaxing. Great food options and lots of busses. The bus stops have the screens that tell you the arrival time for the busses, too. That was really convenient. We were in Kidani and went to Jambo to eat at Boma one morning. The Jambo pool was huge! Any one would be lovely tho because you will be at Disney! Have fun :earsboy:

I rather spend the extra $800 and stay deluxe IMO. I like the thoughts of everything under one roof vs several buildings and no covered walk ways. My husband on the other hand rather save the $800 or more. He thinks Pop would be perfectly fine but for 9 nights I'm definitely not feeling a value with 3 kids and double beds so I thought about staying at a moderate. My husband definitely isn't up for a split stay. Once we are unpacked that's where he plans to stay...

I agree! We love both AKL and CBR. AKL would be my first choice (which is what my vote was for) as we really enjoy the extra amenities the deluxe resorts offer, but we had a great time at CBR and wouldn't hesitate to return. The main pool is great as it has a fun pirate theme that kids love, but each village also has its own quiet pool which is sometimes nice to take advantage of. I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter which resort you choose, but if the extra cost is doable, I'd go with AKL. Good luck.

AKL would be my pick. I prefer the deluxe resorts with everything under one roof, and AKL is a really amazing place. If you are planning to spend a day there and most afternoons, you will have a chance to see the animals, enjoy the great pools, participate in the kids activities, etc. The theming there makes it very special. You could save some money doing a split stay, but if your husband is against it I wouldn't recommend trying that.

9 nites in a value resort with 3 kids is not very relaxing - unless you get a family suite. Have you looked into those? I've never stayed a a value but friends have done a family suite in AoA I think and loved it.

9 nights in a family suite at AOA is actually higher than AKL with our discount so that's not really an option, but my kids would love to stay at AOA!!
