i know..i know another pick a resort thread. I can't help myself sometimes!

Anyways help me out if you wish!

I have stayed at quite a few onsite WDW resorts (Poly is my fave) but my husband's parents are joining us for a Christmas trip and we're really torn as to where to stay. It's possible we may move this trip to January when it's a little cheaper since they have NEVER been to WDW so I want them to have the experience of a lifetime as it's probably the only time they will ever go. I'm open to any suggestions. I don't think we want a villa as we're not determined to stay in the same room and I don't like to cook on vacation. I'm NOT opposed to one though if it's our cheapest option for what/where we think we want to be. I imagine my in-laws will probably do more resort than parks but I'm not positive. We are going to be a party of 7 and would like to do 2 rooms I think. Our youngest will probably sleep in the grandparents room so it doesn't matter if it's a 4 person standard room when suggesting.

My father-in-law has a bad hip and I think I'd like a more compact resort so he doesn't have to walk all over the place for a meal or to get a bus ride.

I have an idea in mind of where I'd love to stay but want to see if there's other suggestions that match that or enough of something else to change my mind.

Thanks for helping out!

My thoughts are POFQ, WL, and the Yacht Club. The first two are smaller resorts. POFQ, has the boat to DTD, lovely, quaint feel, nice food court, and POR's amenities right there. Its been recently refurbbed and has queen beds.

WL is all one building, near MK, easy access to the monorail resorts and is a cheaper deluxe.option.

Yc is so close to World Showcase, the Boardwalk area, DHS, has SAB, and so many dining options.

We have only stayed at POFQ, but if I was going with my inlaws, those are the three I would pick from!

Thanks for the suggestions. WL is the one I had in mind since the boat is convenient and it's one of my faves at the holidays. I think my in-laws would love the rustic feel

My husband and I stayed at WL in December last year and loved it. Loved the decor-both the lodge itself and the decorations. I think my husband appreciated that the lodge was just one building. There is a nice little lounge there as well.

I'd recommend the Contemporary (tower) for compactness, and the fact you can monorail one stop to the TTC and hop on the Epcot monorail, giving you 2 parks w/ monorail access. If you could get MK view rooms, watching Wishes at night from their own balcony (w/ their grandchild) would be super magical! The only thing I'd check first is if the monorail service is being interrupted a lot from the GF construction. That would be a bummer.

I know the Contemporary is very plain to some, but thinking about the monorail going through the resort, Chef Mickeys being there, and the very cool gift shops, it's very Disney to me. My kids and my nephews loved it! And being able to walk to the MK is wonderful!

My mom has a bad hip too (had a replacement that never healed very well). When we all went to Disney 2 years ago, she tried to hobble along w/ her walker, but after a day we ended up renting her a scooter (the front desk at the boardwalk helped my brother set it up on the spot). The place delivered it right away. She was able to enjoy the trip so much more w/ the scooter. She had to get off at times and walk a little, because sitting too long isn't good either, so we'd have someone else drive it during those times. Something to keep in mind for your fil.

We stayed at the boardwalk when mom came, and it was great. We all enjoyed the boardwalk activities at night (grandchildren to grandparents). That was really nice to have right there... when we were done for the day with parks, but not quite done for the night. And if your inlaws are at all the type to go grab a drink, you have more options on the boardwalk (or if they want to babysit and you and dh go have a little fun, that's great too). Plus you have easy transportation to 2 parks. The only downside to the Boardwalk (to me) is the lack of a fast food place. You have various counter service places (bakery, pizza window, and carts w/ food at night on the boardwalk), but I like one place to get everything. It's not a deal-breaker for me though. Oh, and the pool is a huge plus at the boardwalk for us. Large, but compact and a fun slide that everyone (including the adults) loves. We had a 2 bedroom villa there. Having the washer/dryer was wonderful. We never cooked, but easy breakfasts in the room was great. It was also very nice to have a living room for us all to be together when we weren't in the parks. (we went w/ my bro and his family, and my mom). So it may not be your cheapest option, but a nice one for family togetherness.

Enjoy deciding where to stay!

AK would be great too w/ your parents, although it's bus to every park. That's a great resort for downtime. I could go on and on about the upsides for every resort there, but going w/ grandparents, these would be my fav.

YC/BC so you call all walk to Epcot. -especially easy for dining at the world showcase.

You'll also have the boat to DHS and the Boardwalk offers plenty see or do for anyone that wants to take a day off from the parks.

Don't forget about the Swan if you want to save a little bit of money but still be on the boardwalk.

I also love the suggestion of the Contemporary or WL.

I would suggest POFQ, since it is a smaller resort, but then I have also stayed at the WL and as mentioned before it just the one bldg, but then if money was permitting, maybe the Contemporary since it does have the Monorail, if they get tired at either MK or Epcot they can take the rail back to the hotel.

Know it is a tough decision, Good Luck and I am sure you will make the MAGIC happen for them!!

ty for the suggestions.

They wouldn't have to babysit..my youngest is 14 and all pretty responsible so I wouldn't make them stay with the grandparents. Only using their room to let 1 sleep so we can get away with a standard 4 since we usually never can

I never really would have thought to consider the BW or even BC/YC. Not sure it's really their "scene" but I sure love it! BC is my next fave after the Poly. Never been a CR fan but I could suck it up if it was to make their trip more comfortable. My DH might have a hard time justifying the cost of staying at a monorail resort since WL is substantially cheaper but I'm really open to anywhere..I'll be @ Disney after all!!

While the Poly is #1 with me, I would consider WL at Christmas time. The rustic atmosphere and holiday decor scream Christmas. However, as you know, Christmas time at WDW is A ZOO!!! If you in-laws are up there in age (though young at heart) with some mobility issues (hip) and have never been to WDW before, the massive crowds and long lines will really leave a lasting impression...
