Hi all

I'm a family nurse practitioner and am in the process of opening my own practice. I would like to come up with an interesting name for it but haven't got a creative bone in my body.

Will you help with some suggestions?

certan words come to mind: healthy living, wellness, family--but I can't put them in any catchy phrase.

Think about names of practices that may already be esablished that you like or come up with one on your own (but there are no grautuities that come with it, sorry;) )

thanks in advance!

Congrats! and good Luck!

Total Wellness, Modern Wellness Center (sounds very state of the art), Family Health Solutions.

I stink at creativity too. The only thing I can think of is: The Nurse's Niche

Pretty bad - I know. I'll keep thinking.

How about checking the yellowpages.com for names. I think you can select a different state and browse listings from other locations. If you don't find something there at least you will be able to put a few words together from the listings to make your own great name!!! Good Luck!

For me personally I avoid professional places that have catchy names. It just seems less professional to me to have something like Total Family Wellness vs Allergy and Asthma Specialists (or what ever). Maybe I am just weird that way. If you are a family practice clinic I would just have a name like Ann Smith, CNP, Family Practice Clinic or Oaktown Family Practice Center, Ann Smith, CNP. I know it is boring but it sounds more professional.

We had a dentist in our old town that had his practice named "Dental Excellence". Besides the fact I knew he was a crooked dentist the name alone (and that they answer the phone "Dental Excellence, please tell me what I can do to make your day outstanding") would turn me off.

I agree with catchy names.

There as ultrasound place near me called Womb with a View... how stupid is that?

I love stupid names! I always said if I get married my fiance would have to go to Friar Tux.

I agree. For a health facility (doctor, nurse practitioner) I think it is more professional to just use your name/title. I would make an exception if you are part of a group, then you sort of need a name to cover all of the people involved.

I guess I am more willing to trust someone who will put their reputation out there with their name.

I agree, I wouldn't go to a medical office with a cutesy name.

Me either. Just let people know you care and will be there to help them is good enough. Word of mouth will help after the initial start up.

I agree that cutesy names for health care isn't the best bet. I know the doctor's offices that DW Lauri goes to have pretty basic titles - one is "township name Primary Care" and the other is just Virginia Physicians with the specialty after it.

I also don't like creative names for a health care practice. It sounds flakey to me, like alternative medicine or new age. I wouldn't even give it a second thought. Just use your name.
