My wife, myself & 2 kids (4 & 6) are going next spring break. Which moderate would you choose, or Swan & Dolphin? Also, would you still rent a car? We are going to Universal 1 day + it is nice if you want to eat off property.

I can only talk about the resorts I have stayed at, of course, but I recommend POFQ.

POR was WAY too large for us. Our room was a long way from the main building and that trek after all day at the parks gets old fast. If you are fortunate enough to get close to the main bldg, I guess it wouldn't be an issue.

The Dolphin was beautiful and walking to EPCOT and DS was nice. Although the walk to DS is quite a haul. But we just didn't get that Disney 'feel'. I dont' know how to describe it. The laundry room was very dirty. Even with a better rate we haven't gone back.

POFQ was smaller and more intimate. We stayed about as far away as you can get from the main building and it still didn't seem very far. And the boat to DTD is wonderful! It is a nice quiet relaxing ride and then all those shops and restuarants feel like they are at your hotel. You get on the buses first (before POR) and get off first. Your kids will love the giant serpant slide at POFQ and at DTD the Lego play area. And while the resort decor looks like New Orleans and may feel more grown up (which you will like), the inside of the dining hall has all these giant mardi gras items that the kids will love.

They all look fantastic! I've stayed at both of the Port Orleans resorts and they are both great but while we really like POR, we LOVE POFQ!!! It is so beautiful and charming and the much smaller size means that you literally have no long walks to anywhere on the resort. The boat to DTD is an excellent amenity at both of the Port Orleans resorts. My suggestion to you would be to look at as many pics as you can and read up on all the mods and pick the one that appeals to you the most. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them!

IMO it would be Swan or dolphin hands down. And yes, I would rent a car.
(not that you will need it at dis, but to go elsewhere)
Parking is (currently) $11 p/d @ d/s.
Enjoy your stay no matter where you land!

CSR wins for my family. We've stayed at all the other mod's and absolutely book CSR whenever it is available. It has a fantastic food court, a great pool, the grounds are beautiful and the bus system is probably the most reliable we've ever encountered. Walking to the DHS or Epcot isn't all that great when the temperatures reach the 90's and the humidity is really high.

If you are planning to go to US, I'd check into renting a car for those two days only. You really don't need one for WDW and, while eating at WDW can be expensive, there are so many places to choose from that we've enver really felt the need to go off property, we just eat a small breakfast and then a really large lunch then a small snack for dinner, or do a breakfast buffet around 10:30, skip lunch and do dinner. If you plan it right, it works well.

Thanks for the replies. I am leaning towards the Swan with 2 queen beds, several restaurant choice as well as being able to walk to Boardwalk & Epcot. Does anyone know if there is a boat to Hollywood Studios from the S&D? Last thing, is it true the moderates have 2 double beds instead of queens?

You catch the boat to epcot $ mgm er..dhs in between the d/s. Or its about a 10 minute walk.
Enjoy!
(you made the right choice!);)
Try the Blue Zoo @ the DOlphin!:thumbsup2
