We have to change our resort from Poly to a moderate due to unforeseen circumstances. We have stayed at CSR and enjoyed that but it is not available. Do you have any suggestions as to which one to pick and why? I will be traveling with my DH and three children ages 11,3 and 2 at time of travel. Thanks!

Port Orleans Riverside might be a good choice because there is a trundle bed that your 2 year old could sleep in. The beds are double beds. The pool is nice and has a slide. Overall I hear very good reports on it.

Here is something to think about. The only mod resorts that allow a family of 5 (all people over the age of 3) are POR and the Cabins at WL. But seeing your little one is under 3 you can stay at any mod. Personally I like POFQ. It is the smallest resort on Disney property and the transportation is easy. The grounds are beautiful and you can take a boat ride to DTD.

when are you going?

I would suggest POR - French Quarter. My family has stayed here before and we really liked the pool and playground area. It is also a smaller resort. POR - Riverside is much larger and more spread out. We really enjoyed staying here. My son's fav is CSR (because of the slide) but his 2nd fav is POR FQ.

PORS would give you a trundle bed for your 2 y/o. It also has the nicest food court of the moderates and the boat to DTD which we love. It has Ye Haw Bob in the lounge which your kids would love. It's a beautiful, very shady tranquil resort. Some people love the mansions, but we personally prefer the rustic look of the Bayou buildings. Both are lovely though. There are ducks, lizards, and squirrels everywhere at this resort that your kids might enjoy.

POFQ is my favorite moderate, because it is so small that no room is very far from the main building or food court. It also has the boat to DTD. Your two smallest kids would love the dragon slide, but your oldest might consider it a little lame. However, because POFQ and PORS are sister resorts you can legally use the pools at either resort. It's a beautiful walk along the river. POFQ shares buses with PORS, but the FQ is usually the first pick up and drop off, so you should always be able to get a seat on the bus. The one thing POFQ does not have is a TS restaurant. They do have a very nice jazz player that plays certain nights in their lounge.

CBR has the pirate rooms (preferred price though and quite a long way from the food court). It also has the recently remodeled pool, which inlcudes a very nice kiddy area. However, it is my least favorite moderate. It's a pretty resort, but HUGE! I'm giving it another chance next Sept, but the last time I was there the bus system was horrible, housekeeping was really bad, the food court was the worst I've ever seen at a WDW resort, and I got extremely ill the one night I ate at their TS restaurant (Shutters). I have never stood on a bus as many times as I did that week, there was a pair of men's underwear on the floor of the bathroom when I checked in, my room got completely missed by housekeeping two days that I was there, and one night I arrived back to my room late to find my door had been left propped open by a trash can all day. When I called security to go into the room with me, they just blew it off, saying the housekeeper had apparently been cleaning several rooms at the same time and just forgot she left my door propped open. Oh, yeah CBR is the only moderate that does not have elevators, so if you get on the top floor you may be carrying strollers and little ones up stairs several times a day. I knew this so requested a bottom floor, but did not get it. Anyway, my point is, that I was not at all impressed with CBR. This was about 2 years ago.

Just FYI: As you can see from my counters, I prefer the moderates over the Values and even the Deluxes. I have stayed at all four moderates and since I go several times a year try to trade out among them. I would rank them: #1. POFQ, #2. & #3. a very close tie between CSR and PORS, and #4. CBR (and that's a very distant 4th).

First off I wouldn't give up hope on CSR. Especially at the 45 day mark when all packages have to be paid in full. Some people will be canceling. Though if you are using the 4/3 deal I know that has to be booked by a certain date.
CSR would be my choice for top mod. Recently renovated rooms and queen beds. So keep checking!
Second choice is tough I like POFQ for it's small size but CBR's pool area is so much better. I think your DS's would probably enjoy the Pirate themed rooms at CBR.
Would you allow your 10 year old to help in the decision? I've often shown my boys pics of the resorts in the category I want to book and let them help decide. www.wdwig.com has great photos in their accomodations section.
Good luck!
PS the only moderate we haven't stayed at is POR so I can't comment on that one!
Also you may want to check out AKL it may not be much more than a moderate!

POR Riveside, nice hotel, access to DT Disney by boat, nice food court, you'll enjoy it:)

I love POFQ...I love the small and quiet aspect of it. Like someone said before there really is no room that is far form the main building. I personally love the pool but you can also use the Riverside pool since they are sister resorts :) The boat the DTD is awesome too, just another scenery and mode of transportation :)

It seems as though they all are pretty great! Thanks for the help, I am a little overwhelmed as I was all set for Poly and now have to try to wrap my head around something else.

I let my oldest DS look at all the pictures(thanks for the link:goodvibes) and he chose.....POR! I was suprised and thought that he would want CBR but he liked the boat to DTD. I called in and changed and the CM that I spoke to told me to keep trying back to see if I could get CSR so that is not off of the table yet either. Thanks for all of your help again!

Congrats on reaching a decision. I'm sure you'll love POR--the food court is great. And as the CM said...keep trying the CSR if that is where you really want to be. People often cancel at the 45 day mark.
