We will be visiting the DLR next summer. I want a hotel which is close enough to be an easy walk to the parks. I also need either a couch or comfy chair in the room, or interior corridors which lead to a lobby with a couch or comfy chair. Right now we are considering the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites, the Howard Johnsons and the Park Vue Inn. Any comments or suggestions would be a BIG help. :goodvibes

Of the three you list, I believe only a Suite at the Desert Inn & Suites would provide a couch for you. It is directly across the street from the main entrance so a very short walk.

Neither the Desert Inn nor the Park Vue have interior corridors. Only the HoJo can offer that. If you are in bldg. 1 or 2 you have interior corridors and I know that in bldg. 2 there is a comfy sitting area in near the elevators.

HTH.

I voted for "other" - have you considered the Best Western Park Place Inn? That motel is right at the crosswalk that goes across Harbor to DL's entrance.

The rooms at the Best Western Park Place Inn have a seating area just inside the door that has a sofa, a coffee table and a chair (desk-type chair). There's also a pretty comfortable seating area in the lobby, though you get there via exterior corridors.

It's been several years since I stayed at the Desert Inn, and at that time I thought the rooms were a little on the shabby side, though from what I've read here it sounds like they have been redone since then. My experience at the Best Western is fairly recent, and the rooms were nice, and looked like they had be remodeled recently. From what I remember, the seating area at the Desert Inn is larger than that at the Best Western.

I would consider BWPPI, Tropicanna, Carousel Inn and Camelots before the ones you have listed. HoJos is a very good hotel but just a little further away, Park Vue seems to get mixed reviews, and if my memory serves me correct Desert Sands has an indoor pool (which doesn't appeal to us as we go there in the summer).

We stayed at HoJo last Oct, going back again This Oct, paid $77/night incl tax, a bargain compared to other hotels I was quoted for.:)
Great place for us, nice little walk to DL, Mimi's Cafe next door, and McD's if we want breakfast. Clean hotel and free internet access inroom.

When we are staying on site we stay at Candy Cane Inn or Portofino Inn. There is a hotel right accross from the entrance to DL but I can't remember the name. Sorry.

Two weekend nights $62 (total, or $31/night) plus tax.

Here's a $50 off Two night coupon for Orbitz. I don't believe you can use it on property, but if you are going to stay off property, you can find some great deals. I checked a couple weekends next month. The Jolly Roger (which is easily walking distance) is $80/night on the weekend. So $80 plus $80 minus $50 (plus tax). You can even stay on the weekend at the Super 8 for $56 a night or a total of $62 for two weekend nights plus tax. I've never stayed at the Super 8, but for $31/night on the weekend, it really doesn't look bad. I believe this ends TODAY. Travel good through Nov. 15.

We stayed at the Park Vue last month and thought it was fine. It does not, however, have a couch or comfy chair in the room. It has a small lobby that, to me, didn't seem like a place to go relax and as others have said, you have to go outside to get there.

It sounds to me like you'll need to upgrade your hotel to get what you want. Park Vue is a basic budget hotel.

That sounds like a great deal, Al, but the OP is going next summer and I doubt the Jolly Roger or Super 8 have a comfy chair in the rooms. :rolleyes1

I vote for the BWPPI. It is right at the crosswalk and has a continental breakfast. There is a nice sofabed with a coffee table just inside the room. The room also has a microwave and a fridge with freezer. I thought the room was very nice, especially the sink counter with coffeemaker.

Thanks everyone for the advice! :thanks: We made reservations for the BWPPI. Yeah! First trip to California! :goodvibes

I picked the Desert Inn and Suites, I haven't stayed there but will be staying there in December. I really like the idea of having a suite where you can put the kids to bed in one room and still be able to do things in another room.
