Help me pick a double stroller!

DH and I are trying to decide on a side by side double stroller for our 4 month old twins. We are debating between an umbrella type (Maclaren Techno or Triumph) or a jogger (In Step, Schwinn or Mountain Buggy) or both. Anyone have any recs for me! Thanks!
We want to have a stroller that's good for Disney and for outings at home so that's why I think we might need an umbrella and a jogger.

I would go with a maclaren, for home or disney you dont want something to big and bulky.

we have a mountain buggy urban double... we took it to disney this summer and it was great in the parks... it's no wider than a wheelchair and it pushes great! it is heavy though, so when you have to fold it up and carry it, it is no picnic, but it is worth it.

at home, it is our every day stroller... i use it in the malls, park, zoo, whatever... we have an suv and it fits fine in the back...

the kids really like it (sleep in it no problem) and i can't say enough how easy it is to push... easier than any single we ever had...

at least once or twice a month someone stops me and asks me about it... i should get commission!

We have both the MacClaren and the Mountain Buggy. For home the Mountain buggy is the handsdown winner. It is so much easier to maneuver the mountain buggy, and it holds more weight. The only bad thing about the mountain buggy is the rain shield is a waste, and cracks easily. Get an aftermarket rain cover. The MaClaren is the clear winner for long trips and airports. It is so much lighter and less bulky. The only downside is that it is harder to push and steer (you have to use two hands versus one with the mountain buggy). I would check Craigslist (I bought mine knew, but will be selling them locally on Craigslist....wish I had thought to buy them that way). Let's see, what else.......Oh, the only real problem with the mountain buggy is you can get a flat tire. Go to Walmart and buy a couple of inner tubes for $3 each and a foot pump and you are all set. The pump provided is not very good. If you travel, buy both. If not, and you can only get one, I would get the mountain buggy. It's great in malls, and just about everywhere. I hope this helps.

We have twins and have the MBUD for home... and LOVE it.... we purchased the Baby Planet Unity Sport for travel, and so far we love it... lots of shade protection... really sturdy and is narrow enough to fit through doorways, just like our Mountain Buggy.

I reccomend either one!

I don't have either mentioned. My ID twin boys have a Combi Twin Savy LX. It folds small and has a carry strap but is a full size side by side and fits through doors. Ive heard good things from the multiples club about the Moutain Buggey though.

We paid $389 for the Maclaren Twin Traveller and it was great for the first few months, but once the boys started growing....it is trash. It cannot be cleaned easlily, storage is horrible, it is hard to steer. It folds easily, and for a double is light and compact, but that is it

We have the Dreamer Design Ditto, which is a jogger. It fits through every door I've ever tried to go through (which I've done a lot of, I take that thing everywhere). It's so easy to push, for jogging or long walks or whatever. There is a good size basket underneath and there are two large pouches in the back, some drink holders back there for sippy cups, water bottles, etc. There are also mini pouches in the kids' seats. There are great canopies...very nice for the sunny days when you have babies. I can't even tall you how much my kids and I have enjoyed it.

That being said...it is hard to travel with. I now watch two kids during the week in addition to my two, and my minivan is full every day, and while it does fold up flat when you pop the wheels off (which is so easy), it doesn't leave room for anything else back there.

Now that my kids are older (2 and 4), I still need something, but I don't need all of the bells and whistles. While I would still always choose the jogger for the zoo or long walks, I am going to buy the Jeep Wrangler double umbrella. It costs 80.00 and isn't nearly as nice as the McClaren or the Combi, but is a great travel stroller for planes and trains and tram rides!

Never thought I'd end up with so many strollers, but if you want to be out and about, you really don't have a great time without them! I've learned that lately!

we have a Chicco Citta Double. It is great. This is our official Disney stroller. I like it because it is fairly lightweight for a double, it has very large comfortable seats that allows my children plenty of room to nap. I also don't have to worry about them growing out of it too soon. It has two large baskets under each seat. it came with a awesome raincover (came in handy last April). Best of all it is affordable.

It is a little wider than some side-by-side strollers but not too bad. I like taking this stroller to theme parks, fairs etc. I wouldn't take it to the mall though. I have a Sit and Stand for everyday use.

MBUD users: Does your stroller have a lock mechanism for when it folds flat or does it just fold flat? We looked at it in the store, but couldn't figure out how to lock it. Thanks

If you have four month old twins and can afford it, GET A MOUNTAIN BUGGY! They are fabulous and you'll be using it for years. We didn't get ours until the twins were 2.5 and wish we'd had it all along.

You do also need a lightweight travel stroller... and maybe a set of lightweight singles too. We have an Eddie Bauer transit tandem that we took to WDW when the boys were not quite two but when they were not quite three, we took two Maclaren Volos.

Everyone I have talked to in our twins club says to go for the umbrella type because the kids will want to be next to each other eventually, and it is easier to feed both of them, or to just tend to them in general if they are at the same level and next to each other.

As for the "locking mechanism on the Mountain Buggy, there is a tether strap that goes around the frame and then locks in place, if you are going to travel with it, I would suggest investing in the travel bag, to keep it even more secure.

I will be getting the Maclaren twin techno. I have the single techno xt now but am expecting baby #2 in January. It reclines completely and comes with a rain cover. It is lightweight and fabulous. I highly reccomend it. My son loved it at Disney when he was 6 months old.

We have the Graco DuoGlider and I'm not in love with it at all! It's heavy and huge...but it does get the job done and has lots of storage.

I have the peg perego Aria Double. I love it. I have a 5 yo and a 7 mos old and it works great. Reclines completely and the basket underneath is great. It folds small and only weighs 14 lbs. sorry I don't have the others you mentioned.

M girls just turned three and we have been through soooooo many strollers, but the one I still have and use for walks, jogging is the MBUD. It is a great stroller and we have used it for almost three years now. That being said I would NEVER take it to WDW. It is way too heavy, especially if you are using bus transportation. It also does not fold that flat. Your babies are still young and they will need to be held once you take them out and then who is going to carry that huge stroller & diaper bag onto the bus/tram?

I also have the Peg Aria....hate it, dont get it! It is light weight and folds nicely, but once the babies get a bit heavier, it is soooo hard to push and the basket hits the ground with anything you put in it and then you end up with a huge hole(which I have). This stroller is lacking the middle set of wheels, which makes it difficut to handle. After a while the seats get very difficult to recline. The hood is useless for shade. It seems like a great stroller in the begining (thats why I got it) but it is not worth the money.

ok, with them being so young, I would go with a light weight for WDW, such as some mentioned, maclaren, combi. I personally like the Maclaren.

We have used regular cheap umbrella strollers too, but the handle bars are so low, that your back will be hurting real quick. Those are not vacation stollers.

I now own two single maclarens that we use for WDW, trips, airport, etc. They are super light weight, we can split up or I use the plastic stroller connectors and put them together if I need to(very rarely, but just in case). It has a shoulder strap and they just work out terrific now.

At this age they tend to....ummmmm, let say they dont always sit nicely together and the two strollers has resloved that problem too

I bought a Mountain Buggy Double in 2004 and I love it but we hardly use it anymore now that they kids are older. It was too heavy to use everyday when only 1 of the 3 was sure to be riding in it. I can't say enough good things.

The only con is the size. It was a pain on the buses in WDW but it was worth it to me, plus my DH usually was the one to carry it. It folds easy enough just bulky. As the previous poster said with 2 little ones that need to be carried it wouldn't work well on a bus at all. If you were renting a car that would be a different story.

It has taken 4 trips to WDW. Its an awesome park stroller, other than the size on the bus. It handles so well and the kids always slept in it great. The last 2 times it held all 3 kids. The oldest would sit on the footrest and until she reached over 45# it still pushed wonderfully. Heck even with her weighing over 45# and the other 2 in it, it handled better than some other strollers I have had.

Now that we don't use it at all anymore, we bought ourselves the Quinny Zapp for the youngest. Its not near as nice but its what we needed.

We went to the beach in August and I was bummed we didn't have the buggy with us instead of the Zapp. The buggy is great.
