We are going to Disney last week in Jan and I've decided on reservations for all the days but 2, and I can't decide between several options! Please help!

The first day we will be at AK, but are fine going somewhere else for dinner. (Also, we have never tried any of the sit down restaurants at AK)
Second day is a day off from the parks- so kids will be well rested for a nicer place, if we decide on that option. We have never tried any of these places, and have never done a Disney show before. Our kids are 3, 7 and 9.

Here are the choices:
Option A
Day 1- Whispering Canyon
DAy 2- Flying Fish Cafe

Option B
Day 1-Yak and Yeti
Day 2- Hoop De Doo

Option C
Day 1 Hoop de Doo (though we are concerned our 3 year old will be too tired and will be bad during show after AK)
Day 2 Flying Fish

thanks!
Stacey

Option C!!!!!

WCC is way overrated and our meal at Y&Y came with a tip of a worker's latex glove in it ! I would personally give Y&Y another try, as it's now years later and people rave about it, but DH won't even go near the place, he is so traumatized.

HDDR is our only must-do every trip (I expect your 3 year old we LOVE it) and our meal at FF was one of our best at WDW.

Enjoy!

Option B or C...

Hoop Dee Doo is a must! I "dragged" my husband (then fiance) to the show he thought he would hate it, it's not really his kind of show, but he LOVED it!! We had a blast. It was our engagement trip and they noticed our buttons (that he had tried to hide) and they made us get up and share a dance. It is a must-do and is different everytime.
Saying that I think which day you should go is based on your 3 year old, and you know your child. From all of the wonderful Dis-ers on this board who will give you wonderful replies, it is your decision. I know many 3 year olds who would be able to handle all day of Disney, and I also know of a few who would have an overload by the time of Hoop Dee Doo.

The pp talked about Flying Fish, so I will add my thoughts about Yak & Yeti. I personally love Yak & Yeti. I know you will find mixed reveiws, but my husband and I always get great food there. Last trip we didn't have time to actually make an ADR, due to our wedding celebrations and activities, but Y&Y has a quick service that I had to stop by, and as it is obviously not the same and not quite as good I still enjoy it. We did not have anything gross happen. It was actually one of the cleanest places we ate at and the service was exceptional.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I do think you would miss out by not going to Hoop Dee Doo,

:goodvibes Good luck with the decision.

Whatever you decide, I hope you'll make an effort to do HDDR. Your kids will love it and so, I think, will you and your DH. Everyone needs to see this at least once. But I wouldn't do it on your AK day. I think the kids would probably be too tuckered out to really enjoy the show.

I'd recommend you do HDDR on day 2. On your AK day, I'd vote for Y&Y if you're OK with eating a really early dinner (I think the last ADR is 4:45pm). If that seems a bit early, then an ADR at another resort might be fun. How about Boma or Sanaa at AKL or Ohana at the Poly? Not a big fan of Whispering Canyon's food. It's not really bad, by any means. Just not my cuppa.

Hi! I would absolutely do HDDR. We did this last year and did it on a "resort day". We swam and relaxed and then went to HDDR that evening. My 3 kids are older than yours and we are glad we did it that way. We liked Whispering Canyon. My husband is a meat eater and especially likes barbeque so it was a hit for us. If you want the fun part I would strongly suggest going for dinner and not lunch. They don't do many things like the ketchup at lunch. I haven't been to Yak and Yeti so I can't speak to that. Good luck!:)

Without a doubt Option C. :thumbsup2

HDDR has been a must "doo" for our family ever since I was a little kid. I now have my fiancee hooked to it. We didn't get to do it on our recent trip due to a lot of special dinners, but we really missed it. Flying Fish is up there with Citricos for having the best food on property (not counting V&A's or the Swan/Dolphin restaurants) and pretty family friendly due to the noise level and location. If any of the kids, especially the youngest, begin to have a tantrum, it is real easy to just bring them right outside to get some air (and maybe see a performer) to cool them off, unlike some other restaurants where you might have to drag them screaming through a resort.

We don't like WC and have never done Y&Y.

But, Flying Fish was awesome when we tried it for the first time the last trip and HDD is such a great experience. We are doing both again this coming trip.

Another vote for option B. We very much like both the food and the atmosphere at Y&Y. There are far more menu options here than at most Disney TS locations, too.

And HDDR is a wonderful way to end a non-park day; great fun for the kids and for you too.

Option C, but I would reverse the days.
We love HDDR. I have been with my core family with young kids, now my adult DS and Grandkids who were the ages yours are now, and with adults only, and we had a blast each time.
Have Fun

Where are you staying? If not at WL/FW or BW, I think it would be a hassle to go to two different resort restaurants in two days - unless you have a car.

I have only done WCC from your list. As two adults, we did not get much of the antics but noticed families with kids did. They seemed to be having fun but if your kids don't like that kind of stuff, they may not enjoy it. We thought it was a fun atmosphere and loved having the chance to check out WL. We would go again.

Thanks everybody for the advice! Well, I knocked Option A out of the line up!

I decided that we have to do Hoop de doo- From the sounds of it, I know my kids would love it, and I'm sure we would have a great time.

Now I just have to decide if we should do it after AK, or on the resort day. My husband thinks we should do it on the resort day- because our son can be a handful. But that means we'd have to knock Flying Fish out- even though it sounds great. I could see taking our son to a noisy, entertaining dinner show after AK, but not a nicer restaurant- so that's not an option.

But, Yak and Yeti does sound good, and the food looks great in the pictures I've seen on here. SO I guess I'm leaning towards that choice. Plus an earlier dinner wouldn't be bad that day- we will be running for 3 days by that point.

I know it's the smarter choice- I'm just sad to turn down Flying Fish. But I know we'll have plenty of time for it as the kids get older.

Thanks again everyone!
Stacey

Okay, it's offical- we are doing Yak & Yeti on AK day, then Hoop de doo on our break day. Thanks all!
