hey guys, have just booked a trip to see friends in MA in late feb, and as i have to come back through LAX to get home to Australia, thought i would stop in at DLR on the way home for 2 days, but i need a cheap hotel close to the park as i am a student and on limited funds...

Any suggestions

TIA

DI&S (Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites) - Cheap & Awesome! We stayed there last Jan. Parking sucked, but we didn't drive - it was closer to the gates that DH. :goodvibes

The Entertainment Rate is available at Howard Johnson Anaheim for quite a few nights during February - from $59 per night plus tax depending on the room you choose. Here is the link to the dates that the rate is available:

http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

If you want to get this rate you will need to call in-house reservations and speak with Jennifer or Lorealle. The phone number is 714.776.6120

My partner has stayed at Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites in the past and found it to be quite good. Very close to DL's entrance and the rates are good.

Have a blast!

:cheer2:

I suggest the Anaheim Plaza Hotel http://www.anaheimplazahotel.com , if you're looking for a cheap (but SAFE and relatively close to the Park) place to stay. If you make your reservation online, it's $10 a night cheaper than if you make a reservation by phone. Off-peak rates for a standard room are about $49-$59.

It is an older hotel, but the grounds are nicely landscaped, most rooms have a balcony or an enclosed garden, and they have a HUGE pool and a hot tub, which is nice after a long day of walking/standing in lines!

Have fun on your trip!

If you can deal with a long walk or taking ART to the parks, you can try hotwire dot com, trying for a 3.5 star in the Disneyland area.

OK before doing that, check out betterbidding dot com to really explore what hotels the 3.5 star can get you...when i did it, I got the Hilton at the convention center, for about $54 base rate per night. They charge $15 per day for parking, but if you don't have a car they don't charge that.

Here's another vote for the Anaheim Plaza. We've stayed there twice and will be there again in January.

Someone mentioned the entertainment rate at the hojo. Keep in mind you'll need to have an entertainment card to get that rate.

I checked Desert Inn for last week of Feb and I got $89. I checked Anaheim Plaza and it came up $59. I have stayed there and for a collage student on limited funds it would be a great place to stay. Parking is ample too unlike Desert Inn.

My favorites are the Castle Inn or the Best Western Anaheim Inn.

OK, where do you guys find these rates for the Anaheim Plaza? I checked it just the other day because DBF and I were discussing driving down Friday night instead of Saturday morning....I couldn't find anything that low at AP.

I don't know. I was wondering that too. We got the rate of $69. And I think it was more on weekends. I can't remember though. We booked a package at orbitz so we ended up saving money that way. I think I saw a AAA rate of $59 once though.

For what days? This close to new years you probably won't. But for a Feb trip that rate is what I pulled up. Now I assume you aren't going Presidents Day week. The days I checked were the 23,24th week.

Where are you checking the rates?

EDIT - nevermind. I searched anaheim plaza's website and for those days in Feb. it was $59 for some of the rooms.

But for my dates (Jan 21-26th) it's $69/$79. I wonder why Jan. is more expensive.

I checked for this Friday (the 2nd) and also for the 9th-11th. All of them came up at a minimum of $89 up to $119.99. I didn't go farther out, I was really just curious to see what I'd find. :)

You can also try the Super 8 on Katella I believe. Been there twice with no problems. It's cheap usually $55 a night and decent enough for a quick no frills visit. It's next to Bubba Gumps.

Days Inn properties and their sister properties can have really great rates.
Last year, I found for April, a Days Inn property for only $44.00 a night. No view of the fire works. A bit too far for that, but this property has or did at the time, anyway a dedicated shuttle. So I did not have to worry about having a long walk back.

They are owned by Wyndham, which also owns the Howard Johnson Hotel, that is close to Disneyland.

Sometimes a decent discount can be had with AAA.

From what I've experienced, the closer your stay is to the time you make your reservations, the higher the rate is. Usually if you make your reservations at least a month in advance you can get some really good rates! I paid $49 a night for a room in the first part of December, but then I made my reservations like 3 months in advance. My stay included a weekend, so I'm not quite sure how the prices are calculated! :confused3

It does seem to be like that, spacemermaid. It is interesting, how rates can seem to be priced, and where.

Where did you book it? Over the phone? Their website?

I searched hotel rates for the Anaheim Plaza for January, months and months ago and they were the same as they are now.
