It's played often as the backround music in Epcot's United Kingdom. It's also played in the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus" when he tells the red haired girl student to "Play the Sunset" on her clarinet. Does anyone know if maybe I could find a listing of the songs played by the different countries? Or does anyone know the song? I tried looking at the soundtrack from that movie, but I guess it wasn't played long. But it's played a lot at the UK and I love it. My favorite thing to do is to sit on a bench by Rose and Crown in the morning, just listening to that song. It would really help if I knew what the song was called!

You could go and ask the question on the imdb.com message boards--I'm sure there are people there who know every detail of Mr Holland's Opus. Let us know when you find out, I'm curious too!

The song young Gertrude Lang learns on the clarinet in Mr. Holland's Opus is "Stranger on the Shore" made popular in the 1960's by British clarinetist Mr. Acker Bilk.

I've heard it in the UK area of Epcot.

Its a very beautiful song.

If you follow this Amazon link-

You can listen to a sample of it (cut 14) from an Acker Bilk CD.

"Stranger on the Shore" is also available to hear and to download from iTunes for 99 cents.

That's it! I just listened to it to be sure, and that's the one. Thanks so much-I've always wondered about this.
