No pressure or anything- but I am leaving in a few days and my DMIL (and DFIL who will be going with us) called me last night and asked if I could arrange for us to eat at Rose and Crown so we could watch Illuminations. GREAT!!! Whenever something goes wrong on one of our trips it's always my fault. (the Hurricanes last fall seemed to be my fault too!!!) So now am I being set up for another fall. HELP!!!!!!! :confused3
If I can even get in with less than a weeks notice what time do I book it for?
Can I request a special table? DH and I have never been to Illuminations so it's all new to me.

I'd let them know that it would be a great idea....However, everyone thinks it is a great idea, so getting a PS now would be next to impossible. Tell them you wish that they had thought of it sooner and it might have been a little more possible to accomplish. Give them the telephone to WDW-DINE and ask them to try to get it. With your luck, you'd get the PS, but you would be inside the restaurant, away from the windows and no way to see the show.

We did this once, but the food was far less than good and this is now a "been there, done that" for our family.

7:50 has worked for us, but...they will not guarantee an outdoor table. Technically you can't even request it. Good luck :earsboy:

If you are trying to make a good impression, please DON'T promise that you will get an outside table at Rose and Crown to watch Illuminations. There are VERY few of them, and everyone requests them for the same reason. You might want to consider a nice early dinner to end in time to get a good spot to watch it along the lake front.

We made a PS for Rose & Crown to watch Illuminations on one of our trips. Our food wasn't the greatest and our service only marginal. We did luck out and get an outside table (not on the rail, though). It turned out nice, but ... we had a much better time when we ate elsewhere and staked a spot on the bridge by France. This was our favorite spot.

So, I say try to get it. But let them know it may be impossible, plus no guarantee for outside table. (We even told the greeter we were willing to wait, but he said next available table only.)

I feel for you as I have a MIL whom I can never please too. I'm sure the hurricanes would have been my fault too.

Maggie

Thanks everyone! I will let them know what you said about guarantees and that we may be better off eatting somewhere else. Are there tables or benches that we can sit at somewhere?

There are some tables next to the Fish and Chips place, but they are usually staked out very early and are really only for those who are eating there. So, if you want counter service, you could try that.

There is also the Cantina San Angel over in front of the Mexican Pavillion. You could sit and sip a Margarita (maybe that will chill out MIL;)) and watch from there. You will have to get there at least an hour before hand, though!
