I'm taking my 16 year old daughter to Disney April 1-6. I originally didn't want a value resort because she stayed at the All Stars resort in October, but Disney just quoted me the Pop Century for $1150.22 which includes magic bands and airport transfers, I can also do the counter service meals for $1702.99. Is the meal plan worth it? I'm not sure two of us would eat $100 worth of food a day, but that's 4 meals and 4 snacks, but without knowing Disney's prices we may.

They also quoted me $2180 for Port Orleans, but I actually think Pop Centry looks for fun for a 16 year old.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

We also stayed at the Swan and Dolphin in October but they are sold out during this time.

Thanks,
Deb

Pop Century is nice. All the rooms have been redone in the past couple of years. There is a big pool in the middle and 2 smaller pools- one is a computer the other is a bowling pin. There is also Skyliner access to HS and Epcot.
If you aren’t really big eaters than I would not bother with the dining plan and just pay for the food out of pocket.

$1150 seems like a really good price for 6 days during the spring break season plus PoP has access to the Skyliner. I would jump all over that. I haven't stayed at PO but I can't imagine it is good enough to justify $1000+. Use that extra money for some fun experiences. For my family the meal plans have never been worth it, $1700 seems crazy for 2 people and that doesn't even include tips!!!
Good luck with your planning!

Is that April of this year? If so your FP window is already opened Feb 1 so you will want to do that as soon as you book.

Do the math, taking a look at what you guys might like to eat and what the cost per day of the dining plan is. Most likely, it will not be worth the money. Especially since you have to pay the adult price for your daughter which includes an alcoholic beverage with each meal, which obviously she can't have so that is value lost too. You have to have just the perfect mix for the dining plan to be worth it, most of the time it isn't.

Is the $1700 include the hotel and meal plan together? It really is a math exercise, you get a refillable mug for beverages at your resort so if you drink a lot of soda or coffee be sure to factor that in. I would absolutely stay at Pop, no need to stay at a nicer resort if you are going to spend a lot of time at it.

All resorts include Magic Bands and Disney's Magic Express.

For us, the meal plan is not worth it.

I'm guessing that price doesn't include tickets. There is no way she is getting 5 nights of Pop, 5 days of tickets and 5 days of DDP for 2 people for $1150.

Yep, as I suspected. that $1150 is room alone...no tickets, no DDP. I just checked.

Adding a 4 day base ticket and QS DDP brings the cost to $2711 at Pop.

I would probably save the money and stay at Pop and not get the dining plan. I'm not sure the QS plan is ever a good deal. I would also check some third party sites like Orbitz and Trivago for prices during your time frame. Sometimes they have them for less.

Another issue pointing towards not getting the dining plan. You need to have a ticket package and Disney just increased their ticket prices. You can still get tickets at the 2019 rates from authorized resellers. I would take the room only deal at PoP, buy my tickets from a reseller (I like Boardwalk ticketing or Official Ticket Center), and just pay for meals out of pocket.
