My name's Annie I am terrified of spiders.
All joking aside, I am. I'm actually waiting for an appointment to come through for a therapist (only been waiting a year, I'd hoped this time last year it would all be done ready for the end of summer spider invasion). Problem is, and totally illogical, I know I'm already putting barriers up in my mind which won't help - just the thought that at some point they're gonna make me get close to one of the evil ones makes my heart pound.
We live in the New Forest and back on to farmland, so many creatures and critters. Farmer Joe will be harvesting the maize he has grown this year - my heart and blood pressure are going crazy just thinking about it because the maize spiders (the HUGE BLACK ONES, see I can say that) will then rush into my house

and my DH works away a lot, so you can bet your bottom dollar they send out messages to their cousins and their cousins-cousins saying "she's on her own tonight boys, in we go".
My good friend bought me a bottle of No More Spiders - "a spray to deter spiders"

I've used it every other week and, well I'm not saying anything cos I don't want to ruin what's happened, if you get my drift.
It smells very much like cloves, so maybe if you can't get hold of this mash some cloves up, perhaps they don't like the smell of em either.
She bought it at the New Forest Show, so we don't know a specific shop to buy it in, but I'm sure if you contact them they will be able to tell you your nearest stockist.
I know it's totally illogical to be afraid of something so much smaller than me, but I am and I can't help it. The next person who says "but they're so much more afraid of you than you are of them", NO THEY ARE NOT!
Whilst I hate killing anything, last year I had to resort to something because they seemed to be coming in in their droves (and you know why they come in . . . to lay eggs to more of the little horrors will be in your house) so I started to spray them with Raid fly killer. I screamed when I did it because I'm sure it was a horrible death for these poor creatures, but it really is a case of them or me.
I sympathise Shellbell, there's no way I can go to bed if I know there's one in the room. No way Jose. It takes me around 1.5 hours to get within 15 feet of them to spray so no way on God's earth could I ever get near enough to whack em with a stick, broom or whatever. My neighbours are aware of my problem so they're used to the screaming woman next door, but he's blind so no point asking him to come and get the devils out.
Tip - put every single plug in your plugholes every day.
Good luck all spider loathers, the season hopefully will be over soon (or least if he hurries up and gets rid of the maize for me

)
