I need help, i'm being attacked by spiders and im really scared :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We're not talking little spiders here, we're talking massive house spiders that move so fast you'd think they were on a motorbike.

Is anyone else having problems with spiders? And have you any solutions how to get rid of them other than sucking them up in the hoover

Catching them is easy.

Get a glass and trap them, now slide a piece of card underneath the glass. Now carry it outside and Machine Gun the monster....Ahem

No let it loose to wander off.

;)

We had a huge spider in our bathroom one day last week. It was massive :scared1: The only thing I could do was call for DBF to come and get it. The spider was very accommodating and just stood me out  Hopefully with the cold wather coming that will kill them off!

Geez
All I do is run like the wind, at the sight of them I am scared to death of the things! They dont need to panic I will not squish them etc, although I will wash them down the plug hole if its sat in the bath or sink etc, although the other week I washed one down the plughole and put the plug in quick *smart thinking* I thought until I lifted the plug and it shot out like a dart!

I helped a giant out of the bath the other day with the aid of a length of toilet paper draped over the side ;)
Have to say I purposely didn't look where it ran off to cos I was in a hurry to get DD to school :rotfl2:

I once bought a spider trap on a stick from a catalogue. I was very disappointed as it was only about 18" long. I can't get close enough to use it. Ideally it needs to be long enough for me to stand just outside the room the spider is in and use it (10 feet or so?). In reality I just yell for DH - I could never leave him as he deals with all the creepy crawlies, mice or any yucky stuff (but not the kids sick!).

LOL :rotfl2: :rotfl:
18 inches would do me.
Where did you get it from? ;)

LOL Dimplenose, that is so funny. Wouldn't you be worried if you couldn't see it that it would run up the stick onto your arm?

Sorry, I am mean, and I am horrid to my DH when it comes to spiders. I am chief Spider Catcher in our house, he is terrified of them, and I'm not bothered. We had two enormous ones in our living room the other night. I caught them both, in a tupperware box, and chased him with them. He nearly fainted.

Now if I saw a cockroach..... :scared1: :faint:

ETA: funny how it goes with kids sick isn't it :rolleyes1

Whoa!!!!

Lets not talk about Roaches, them swines move so fast, they are the Ben Johnson of the nasty blighter world

We are having this problem too. I am so scared of spiders, i manage to kill the small ones but the past 4/5 weeks we have had several massive spiders and they always seem to be upstairs, 2 weeks ago there was one in the bedroom and DH said he killed it for me but he flushed it away without showing it to me so now i dont believe him as i didn't see the spider dead. I slept with Lucy that night and now i hate going to bed. I'm hoping the cold weather will get rid of them. The worse thing is DH doesn't understand hhow scared i am of them and shouts at me for being a wimp. :guilty:

My name's Annie I am terrified of spiders.

All joking aside, I am. I'm actually waiting for an appointment to come through for a therapist (only been waiting a year, I'd hoped this time last year it would all be done ready for the end of summer spider invasion). Problem is, and totally illogical, I know I'm already putting barriers up in my mind which won't help - just the thought that at some point they're gonna make me get close to one of the evil ones makes my heart pound.

We live in the New Forest and back on to farmland, so many creatures and critters. Farmer Joe will be harvesting the maize he has grown this year - my heart and blood pressure are going crazy just thinking about it because the maize spiders (the HUGE BLACK ONES, see I can say that) will then rush into my house :faint:  :scared1: :scared1: and my DH works away a lot, so you can bet your bottom dollar they send out messages to their cousins and their cousins-cousins saying "she's on her own tonight boys, in we go".

My good friend bought me a bottle of No More Spiders - "a spray to deter spiders"

http://www.151.co.uk/brands.php?brandid=7

I've used it every other week and, well I'm not saying anything cos I don't want to ruin what's happened, if you get my drift.

It smells very much like cloves, so maybe if you can't get hold of this mash some cloves up, perhaps they don't like the smell of em either.

She bought it at the New Forest Show, so we don't know a specific shop to buy it in, but I'm sure if you contact them they will be able to tell you your nearest stockist.

I know it's totally illogical to be afraid of something so much smaller than me, but I am and I can't help it. The next person who says "but they're so much more afraid of you than you are of them", NO THEY ARE NOT!

Whilst I hate killing anything, last year I had to resort to something because they seemed to be coming in in their droves (and you know why they come in . . . to lay eggs to more of the little horrors will be in your house) so I started to spray them with Raid fly killer. I screamed when I did it because I'm sure it was a horrible death for these poor creatures, but it really is a case of them or me.

I sympathise Shellbell, there's no way I can go to bed if I know there's one in the room. No way Jose. It takes me around 1.5 hours to get within 15 feet of them to spray so no way on God's earth could I ever get near enough to whack em with a stick, broom or whatever. My neighbours are aware of my problem so they're used to the screaming woman next door, but he's blind so no point asking him to come and get the devils out.

Tip - put every single plug in your plugholes every day.

Good luck all spider loathers, the season hopefully will be over soon (or least if he hurries up and gets rid of the maize for me :scared:)

There is nothing you can do. They will get you and eat you alive. Just hope they do it fast and not painfully slow.

LOL.

Just joking. 99% of the house spiders can't hurt you so don't sweat it. Now it's that 1% you have to worry about it. He he.

a few months ago, there was a big spider in the bath, so i put the cold tap on and it went down the plug hole. I ran my bath got in it and while i was lying there, the spider popped out of the overflow thingy and jumped into the bath :scared1:
well i scrambled out of that bath as quick as i could!
so if you ever have a spider in the bath, make sure you run the hot water on it to kill it when it goes down the plughole, as obviously cold water doesnt work!!

:rotfl2: Sorry Netty but that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. :rotfl2: I'm spider catcher in our house but do sympathise with you all.

I was browsing round Superdrug today and there it was "No More Spiders". Our branch is really small so you should be able to find it anywhere that has a Superdrug.
