Hello,

I am trying to help my poor husband. Is there anywhere on property that I can buy cans of beer for my husband so that he can relax when we arrive at POP? We are taking DME so we won't have a car and we won't get to our hotel till about 8:30 pm. Does the gift shops sell beer? If not does anyone know of a way I can surprise my husband and have some in the room for him when we get there? I know we could go to a hotel lounge but don't really want to do that as our daughter will be tired and just want to stay in the room.

My friend used one of the grocery delivery services and included beer for her hubby on the list. Not sure which one she used, but I bet it's cheaper than the gift shop.

We are staying at Pop in April. I have read that there is a "cocktail bar" at one of the pools that sells all types of alcohol as well as appetizers. I was excited to know this!!:cool1: Will be nice to chill with a drink while my DD plays in the pool!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Not sure if you have to buy some groceries along with that beer, and I also understand there is a minimum purchase from the grocery delivery places.

It could be worth it to use wegoshop.com or gardengrocer.com and get some snacks and milk and stuff too.

If he only wants a couple of beers here and there, I would just buy the six pack in the grocery area at your hotel, it's probably about double what it would be at the store, about $10 or so for a six pack. If you buy a beer at the pool bar though, one beer is about $5, so a six pack is a better deal.

Now, if he wants a "bunch" of beers, like a case or something, I'd go with the grocery service. Pop will keep it cold for him till you guys can pick it up!!

One more thing we did once, we took a bus to Downtown Disney, got off at the Pleasure Island stop, crossed the street, and bought beer at the gas station. Carried it back to the bus, and took it back to our resort. You can do this if you want to. Saved money, but it is a little weird walking around carrying a 12-pack of beer and getting on the bus with it. :lmao:

My husband is a major beer nut so I know what you're dealing with, Trish!

Last time we were at the World, one thing we noticed is that the prices for beer at the resort gift shop (Port Orleans FQ) were far less than the food court prices. Not sure if that's still the case, but if all you're looking for when you arrive is a 6-pack, the gift shop is a good bet.

For our upcoming trip, I read on here that there's a Hess Mart with reasonable beer prices located across the street from the Boardwalk Villas. It is our intention to take a bus from our resort (POR) to the Studios, then walk over to the boat which goes to the Boardwalk resorts. Once there, we're planning to have lunch (at Beaches & Cream or Big River), then we'll walk across the street to the Hess Mart to buy beer and hopefully a styrofoam cooler. (DH likes his beer from a cooler--don't ask why!)

To get back, we'll carry a 12-pack each to the Boardwalk bus stop and take a bus to Downtown Disney. That way, if there aren't any coolers for sale at the Hess Mart, we can look for one in the DD kitchen store. We'll take the boat back to our resort.

Good luck on your beer quest!

We have used wegoshop.com 5 times and been very pleased with them. They do not have a minimum order amount (that I know of) The cost is the cost of the items plus a &17 delivery fee. We believe we saved that over the cost at the Disney Gift Shops.
We ordered breakfast items, juice, coffee, beer, wine, soda, a case of water ($2.50 each in the shop) cheese, crackers and snacks. It was well worth it to us
Have a Great Trip

just got back from POP and DH bought several 12 packs of Bud Light for $12.. In itself that is a high price.. he usually drinks Coors Light.. but the Coors light were $5 per can.. so he got a 12 pack for $12..

He bought several while we were there.. :rotfl:

I have never done it since we do a grocery stop first but I also heard that you get better prices at Hess.

I would have some shipped to the resort before you went and then put in the fridge when you get there. We are driving down and still sending water and some food (and probably alcohol :drinking1 ). I know that it will cost but last time we went we spent way too much money on alcohol. Even off property! All we bought was one pack of wine coolers and a 12 pack of beer. I would rather pay my shipping costs than justify paying that for liquor. I know it sounds silly.:confused3

Whenever I arrive at the World..

I take a bus over to DTD. Walk across the street to the Hess Station and grab a 12 pack of Coca Cola. (You might purchase another more adult beverage there as well!) The prices are VERY reasonable.. big savings over the gift shops... and it gives me something to do when I get there that doesn't burn up a park day. ;)

I also purchase a few other items while I'm there.. and then head back to the resort.

Yes, it's about an hour all together.. but it's a nice relaxing bus trip and gets me in the Disney mood..

Another suggestion for ya anyway..

If I'm reading the OP correctly, the husband wants cold beer when he gets to the resort and they are relaxing. A grocery delivery wouldn't be cold and Pop Century doesn't have refrigerators.

While you are checking in, send your husband to the gift shop or food court. He'll find plenty of cold ones in either place. There's even a bar in between the two (they are all connected) so he can belly up to the bar while you are checking in. Then he can grab a cold six pack for the room.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I think we will just go to the gift shop and buy some there.

Actually Pop Century does have refrigerators, they do not come standard in rooms but you can rent them! They are the mini fridges. This is what I am going to do!

I posted this same question a week ago. My dh was questioning where to get beer too. I think we might go to the Hess gas station. We are probably going to DTD our first night, so it works out perfect.

I would suggest purchasing a collapsible cooler at home. Easy to pack and works great!!:thumbsup2

Pop is a little different than most resort's food courts/gift shops in that virtually all food items are sold in the food court. So while at POFQ you could buy a beer at the food court and a 6 pack in the gift shop at Pop both are in the food court.
