For us the hotel is important so please help us find the perfect room. Disney properties are out, we have stayed at the DLR and we loved it but it's not in the budget this year.
Here is what we are looking for:

-suite size room
-great pool
-fireworks view

DS has some sensory disorders and really prefers watching the fireworks at the hotel and not in the parks.
So can anyone help? Please? :)

Try the Hilton anaheim. its an immaculate hotel with great disney views. also the sheraton park has great disney views as well. the sheraton has all balconies (standing room only) i prefer the hilton as they have some upgraded room options and a nice little on site food court with sbarro, a burger place a sub place and a baja fresh i believe.

I believe the Hojo Anaheim has firework views, it *may* work for you. They have kid's suites and a cool water play area. Does he do okay with noise canceling headphones (I have an SPD kid too).

Yep, he does great with the headphones but I know at night he gets anxious with the large crowds. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, off to go look and see if they fit into our budget. :)

Also look at the Camelot. They have 2-room family suites that are like two connecting rooms. You also get a little wet bar/kitchen area, but only one bathroom. They have a fireworks viewing deck on the top floor. The walk to the parks is very quick. We stayed there in December. Our room was very clean we enjoyed our stay.

Hojo might not work, actually. I just booked our first vacation there and when I asked, all the kid's suites face the freeway, not Disneyland. If you could fit in a standard guest room, you could book one with a premium view and be fine though. What about the Fairfield? I haven't personally stayed there, but one of my students stays there frequently with his family (I teach kids with autism, so I'm familiar with the needs).

The King Suite at Hojo's has fireworks views. A separate bedroom with a King bed, small kitchenette and living room area with a sleeper sofa.
