Help me find that Earplane/Earache Thread!

We just got back from our WDW on Sat. and my DD-15 is saying her ear still hurts alot. I'm assuming it's from the flight. My other DD-11 also complained about her ears hurting on the way there, but hasn't mentioned it since. Can you help me find that thread that was posted a while back about what to do for an earache? Thanks!

I don't know about the earlier thread, but I know that taking an allergy medication (like claratin or zyrtec) will help to dry up the sinus and help the ears to clear up after flying. I have trouble with my ears all the time at high altitudes and this trick works for me. Next time, have them start the allergy medicine a few days before flying and it might prevent the earache.

My ENT said to use afrin nose spray and benadryl before my dd 14 gets on the plane .

No help about the other thread, but I'd try this:

Afrin nose spray every morning and night for three days

PLUS benadryl at night

Use heat (an old towel or sock filled with salt warmed in the microwave works wonder)

Avoid ear drops. Most likely her eustation tubes are plugged and don't need any more fluid in there.

See your nurse practioner or pediatrician if the pain continues.

Thanks everyone, I gave her a Claratin and am giving her a hot water bottle for night. I'll see how she's doing in the morning. It says I can only give her one tablet every 24 hours. It must pack a punch!?
