just FYI -seattle is wonderful, but quite expensive! It is much more expensive than Denver (where we love it by the way) and our 1500 Sq.ft house appraises at 215,000.
Denver is awesome but not cheap!
The good- The schools are good in most areas, we are an hour from the mountains, the climate is generally good except that we get a lot of snow in the spring-but we average 340 sunny days a year and since it is not humid the temperature variations are easier to take. Is Beautiful in a way you have to live here to understand. lots of outdoor activities and skiing.
The bad-The cost of living is pretty high.
The just plain ugly-there are not a lot of jobs right now, especailly in telcom (Verizon only has wireless out here which leaves AT&T Qwest(ick) ICG (double ick) and GlobalCrossing (i work there and we won't go down that path)
