I've been using my discover card for the cash back bonus for the last couple years but i'm looking to switch to a different card. Their "bonus" catigories really suck for the whole year and i only earn 1% on other purchases and i'm looking for something better.

so tell me about your favorite reward cards

Are you looking for strictly cash back? Or are you open to something that gives you statement credits, airline miles or hotel rewards? Do you want a fee-free card or are you willing to pay an annual fee in exchange for more/better rewards?

I applied got the Chase Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee waived the first year, 50,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in the first three months). I wanted it for the travel benefits, which include no foreign transaction fees and double points for travel related expenses like train/airfare, hotel, dining and rental cars. One point per $ spent otherwise. No messing around with categories changing every 3 months. 7% annual dividend on all new points earned. Additional points can be earned by shopping online through the Ultimate Rewards website with your card.

The regular Chase Sapphire has no annual fee, 25,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in the first three months, double points on dining. Extra points for shopping thru Ultimate Rewards.

The Chase Freedom has no annual fee and give 5% back changing categories, which you have to enroll in each time they change. All else is 1% back. The current offer is $100 cash back when you spend $500 in the first 3 months. Get up tp 10% additional cash back when you shop online thru their shopping portal.

i prefer cash back or gift card options, besides disney once a year (or every other year) we don't travel much. i don't really like the idea of paying an annual fee to use a card unless i'm gonna get that money back and more by using the card.

We have the Costco American Express True Earnings card. You get 3% back on gas (first $3000 of the year. 1% after that), 2% back on restaurants and travel and 1% on everything else. You get the rewards in the form of a check once a year. The check is made out to Costco, with your endorsement. You go to Costco and can either cash it outright or use is as payment for Costco purchases and get change back. We just got our annual check for $389. The card is free as long as you have a Costco membership.

sounds like a great deal....too bad we dont have a Costco anywhere

i did just sign hubby up for a chase freedom card. free $300 cash back after first purchase, 0% interest till March 2013. idk if this will be our new daily card or not, but we'll give it a test run and see how it goes.

i just wish discover card had better cash back bonus offers this year, they all seem crappy.
